Long story short: an Iranian girl was banned from going to a football match by the authorities (I think she rocked up to the stadium and was told that she couldn't get in). She set herself on fire in protest and died. Her family was told not to announce her death until three days later for national security reasons. It's being protested as gender apartheid. The appeal is for FIFA to pressure Iran to push back against women going to stadiums.
