Have just returned from a vacation in New England where I took a detour from sightseeing activities to catch the Argentina vs. Venezuela match at Gillette Stadium. No surprise, the Venezuela supporters in the stadium were vastly outnumbered by the throngs of Argentina Messi supporters. The Argentines won the match handily, making their slaughter of Venezuela look effortless. Credit to Venezuela for pushing for a goal till the bitter end. Pity the same couldn't be said for Mexico who mentally gave up after Chile pocketed their third goal. Once I was back at the hotel, I fell asleep to the shrieks of the TV commentator who was freaking out about Vargas' fourth goal in the Chile vs. Mexico match. It may have had a tediously slow start, but this iteration of the Copa quickly ramped up the drama and has been so much fun.

Tonight, the US are without its key players Bobby Wood, Jermaine Jones, and Alex Bedoya (all serving suspensions for being naughty). God speed, USMNT.
