Champions league qualifiers

News

  • Now Casillas can win the only cup he's never won. The Europa league Who said this?

  • Breaking: Karim Benzema to be officially excluded from the French national team by FFF President Noël Le Graët today, according to L'Équipe. baby bye bye bye

  • Everton and Scotland star Steven Naismith in Glasgow to pay for and serve Xmas dinners for homeless in city centre No snark here. Good on him, really

  • Sebastian Giovinco: “I dream of finishing my career in the MLS, Dybala…” Misses Europe but this is his home

Olympicacos 0 - 3 Arsenal

Arsenal had to win by any score as long as it wasn't 0-1 or 1-2. So they did a hattrick

I'd say kudos to them, but for the amount of money they're paid, for the league they're in, and the rest of it, yeah, they shouldn't have been in this position in the first place

Giroud got a hattrick. So that's him off to the Euros, then. I do admire the French coach who's come straight out and said, if you're not playing for club, you're not playing for country. The English NT need to do that. You'd probably find players getting a bit of ambition then

Gent 2- 0 Zenit

Shout out to Gent. They become the FIRST Belgian side to reach the CL knock out. Say WHAT?!

Depoitre (2nd right) is supposedly linked with Tottenham, but I hear his goals have dried up. The last thing Spurs need is a passenger, tbh. What's he like as a player, anyone know?

Bayer 1- 1 Barcelona

Hernandez scored for Bayer

Messi stormed back. I expected a bit more goals, though! But save that powder for the knock out stages, eh?

Zagreb 0 - 2 Bayern Munich

Lewandosky/ski? scored. It's a thing with him

Bayern won five out of their six qualifying games

Valencia 0 - 2 Lyon

The Neville brothers had their first match in the dug out last night

Valencia started out brightly. First attempt at goal hit the post, the second got disallowed. All this in the first twenty minutes. Alas, goals change games. Lyon got one

Valencia have talented, tidy players who probably dive a bit too much.

Remmiiiiinnnnd me, Algredo was at Man City, right? But then due to [redacted salacious rumour here] he returned to Valencia? Anyway, he showed his quality but tried to do too much

Chelsea 2- 0 Porto

Costa and Casillas had words. Costa is quite the chode, though

Some players at Chelsea have laid down arms. Willian has stood up

The Last Sixteen

OP: done! I've risen from the... well, lurgy to deliver this post unto you. Any overlooked news, put it here. Cheers, jeers, corrections and commentary pushback, you know the drill!
