Real Mallorca starlet Marco Asensio has confirmed that he is poised to sign for Real Madrid.
The 18-year-old winger is expected to finalise a €3.7 million transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu during the January transfer window, with reports suggesting the Blancos will be loaned back to the Spain Under-19 international back to the Segunda Division side for the remainder of the 2014-15 campaign.
Asensio has now revealed that he has agreed terms on a five-year contract with the reigning European champions.
“We will see what happens this week because in this club anything can happen," the teenager told Cadena SER. "Real Madrid have decided and I am really happy.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the finalisation of the deal in order to make everyone calmer - the club, me and Real Madrid.
“It is an honour that the best clubs are fixed on me, and Real Madrid are the best of the best. The agreement is for five seasons and now it's for me to enjoy."
Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti also confirmed on Monday that Asensio is set to be a presence at the Spanish capital club after the end of the current season.
"Marco Asensio is a very good player," the Italian told reporters. "That's why we are talking with Mallorca to bring him in next summer."
.@MrAncelotti: Asensio is a good player and we will try to have him by our side this summer, but not in January" #HalaMadrid
