Chelsea have secured the services of midfielder Oscar for another five years after the Brazilian extended his contract with the Blues.
“Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce Oscar has today signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until 2019,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
The 23-year-old, who joined the Stamford Bridge outfit in 2012, has been in stellar form for his club so far this season, scoring four goals and contributing two assists in the 15 matches in which he has featured.
And having been offered a contract renewal, Oscar was delighted to extend his stay in London.
“I am so happy because I love playing for Chelsea and living in England,” he said. “I have enjoyed playing here for two years, and now I have five more, so I am very happy.”
The Selecao international has made 92 starts and 34 substitute appearances for Chelsea since his move from Internacional two years ago, scoring 27 goals.

BALOTELLI RECALLED TO THE ITALY SQUAD
The Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has been named in an Italy squad for the first time since the World Cup finals. The 24-year-old, who left Milan for Anfield in the weeks that followed Italy’s early return from Brazil, played no part in the first four games of Antonio Conte’s reign as the Italy manager.
Balotelli returns to contention for a Euro 2016 qualifier against Croatia and the friendly with Albania while the Atlético Madrid winger Alessio Cerci is also recalled.

CESC FÀBREGAS HAMSTRING INJURY TO BE ASSESSED BY SPAIN
José Mourinho admitted to gambling with his fitness, the midfielder could be out for three weeks.
The Spain team doctor Óscar Celada told Radio Marca: “We will assess him in the coming hours to see if he can form part of the squad. We know Cesc, I’ve known him since he was 16 years old, I know his professionalism and commitment to the national team, but we are still waiting to assess him.”
The Spain coach Vicente del Bosque added: “The most prudent thing is that he sees the Spanish national team medical staff. It’s not a lack of confidence in the medical staff at his club, but after playing 95 minutes this weekend we would like to see him and examine him.”
Del Bosque also rejected the claims that Spain showed weakness when backing down to Mourinho.
