"You better guard your head like Petr Cech"

Mario Balotelli has capped a quiet year by inspiring a song by Tinchy Stryder. The Number 1 and Never Leave You star released the track on a Christmas EP, The Wish List, given away free to fans. The third track is titled simply 'Mario Balotelli' and refers to the T-shirt the Italian striker showed off after scoring Manchester City's opening goal in their 6-1 rout of United at Old Trafford. The lyrics go: "Why always me, why always me, why always me… Mario Balotelli!"

And a couple of days ago former Chelsea, Everton and Scotland footballer Pat Nevin had a go at being a DJ on BBC 6 Music.

Tracks he played included:
The Jesus and Mary Chain - April Skies
Cocteau Twins - Frosty The Snowman
Belle and Sebastian - The Boy With the Arab Strap
Camera Obscura - Happy New Year

He then appeared on a christmas day quiz where teams from the BBC's sports radio station 5live competed against 6music DJs on a series of football & indie music based questions, during which he came up with the amazing band name 'Alan Hansen's Disdain', moaned about Joey Barton "stealing my pseudo-intellectual, indie footballer crown" and talked about DJing at ATP and his habit of slipping band names into his football commentary.

He's part of the Channel 5 Europa League team so you can listen out for him slipping any more indiepop references in to his commentary on the Manchester teams and Stoke. And you can listen to his 6music show here.
