During last Friday's meeting at Sant Cugat del Vallès, the Board of Directors of FC Barcelona ruled in favor of officially accepting the new Penya Blaugrana de Gais i Lesbianes (LGBT fans club) and the new Fan Club will now sign as memebers all those who wrote in the past few months to ask for a subscription. Until now only members of the provisional committee were accepted.
The Fan Club was born here in Barcelona and is sponsored by the Panteres Grogues (Yellow Panthers), an association that dates back to 1994 and whose objective has always been that of offering a safe environment for homosexuals and bisexuals to freely practice sports and foster cultural activities.
We can already reveal that Penya Blaugrana already have their dedicated crest, which you can see on this very page, and that the new fan club will be officially inaugurated on May 17th 2007, coinciding with the International Day Against Homophobia.

The President of Penya Blaugrana de Gais i Lesbianes describes the moment as "historical"
Barça's latest victory was preceeded last night at the Camp Nou by an official reception for the new LGBT fans club Penya Blaugrana and the inauguration of their new crest.
All this in the backdrop of the Queer Football Funclubs Meeting, and event against discrimination that was held in Barcelona and that attracted gay and lesbian fans of many different football clubs in Europe.
The solemn reception took place at the Sala París, and was attended by club executives Albert Perrín, Xavier Bagués, Patrick Auset and Jordi Torrent. Magda Oranich was also present, as "godmother" of the Penya Blaugrana de Gais i Lesbianes and Member Delegate. "As a fighter for human rights, I couldn't miss the event", she stated.
Penya Blaugrana president Josep Ribas described it as an "historical moment" for its significance.
"It is the first time that the club officially receives a group of gays and lesbians", he added.
Jordi Petit, former secretary of the International Lesbian and Gay Association, also spoke, as did Tanja Walther-Arens, member of FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe) and of the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation; Lluís Monge, of the Federació de Municipis (Federation of Catalan District Councils); Joaquim Mestre as spokesman of the Barcelona City Hall and Carme Porta as a delegate of the Generalitat (de Catalunya).
Xavier Bagués spoke as a representative of the club's Board of Directors.
Members of several gay fan clubs were also in attendance: fans of Bayern Munich, Kohln, Hertha Berlin, Sankt Pauli, Karlsruhe y Mainz for Germany; Berna (Switzerland) and Aston Villa (UK). There were also Manchester United and Bradford City fans (although the last two don't have an official LGBT fan club).
After the official presentation, the party moved on to where Elvira Pou (member of the Social Committee of Barcelona) inaugurated the new plate with the crest of Penya Blaugrana de Gais i Lesbianes. Before them, the other plate that was inaugurated was that of Xente Culé de Avilés (Asturias).
