What happened afterwards became the most famous headbutt in the history of football and ended with Zizou walking of to the dressing rooms after the fourth referee, Spaniard Maderina Cantalejo, saw the action in a video.
The fifth great in world football finished his career by being sent-off in a World Cup final, which, to make things worse, France ended up loosing in a penatly shoot-out.
3rd November 2010. Hotel Meliá Milano, Milan. The place where the Real Madrid team is staying and a sort of holy shrine to José Mourinho, who made this wonderful place his headquarters during his two years with Inter Milan. Marco Materazzi comes over to visit his friend and ex-manager. While waiting for the Portuguese tecnician to arrive, he speaks to Alessandro Misani, the director of the hotel. Suddenly, in the hallway appears no other than Zinedine Zidane, whom he had never seen again and much less spoken to.
The two players salute and begin a conversation , cold at first, that is soon turned into a peace treaty. The scene finished with Zidane and Materazzi sharing an emotional hug. The past is forgotten."
