Real Madrid - News Roundup!

Mourinho: "I would grade Real Madrid's performance with a 10"

"We’ve been playing well for several games now, doing a good job overall and pressurising our opponents as a whole team"

Jose Mourinho did not hide his satisfaction for the impressive victory Real Madrid earned tonight at the Bernabeu.
"We’ve been playing well for several games now, doing a good job overall and pressurising our opponents as a whole team. Individual quality starts to shine through sooner when a team works well collectively. We are currently having a very positive run and we have to continue working without much time to rest or enjoy it. Happy people nevertheless forget about exhaustion and problems..."

"Fans are having fun and so is the team, especially because it has to run around less now. I obviously like this, but we shouldn’t think this is how it’s going to be in every game. We will win some games with few goals, and even draw and lose some. We want to have a mentality that doesn’t allow for two consecutive defeats. We played a very serious game in Malaga and we did so again against Milan and also tonight. That’s the mentality I want my team to have and I am very happy about it."

"We are growing slowly but steadily. Fans may feel euphoric, but we must remain calm. Great coaches and great players can’t allow themselves to feel euphoria for so little. We want to achieve things that are much more important than this."

"We have to start working on our game against Murcia as of now. Ozil, Carvalho and Xabi Alonso will have a three-day holiday. The rest will be called-up for the match. Benzema will be a starter, and so will Ronaldo. It is a very important game to me. If last year’s situation repeats itself, I will cross those who play off my list because they will be dead to me."

Cristiano Ronaldo: "This is the first time I score four goals in a game as a professional player"

"I would like to congratulate my team-mates because they all played a great game tonight"
Realmadrid.com / Translation by Michael J. O'Donnell

Cristiano Ronaldo was delighted with the victory over Racing Santander, in which he netted four phenomenal strikes.

"This is the first time I score four goals in a game as a professional player. My team-mates served me every ball I got and all I had to do was push them into the goal. They should be congratulated because they all played a great game tonight."

"We must remain calm and focus on one game at a time. We have a long way to go, but we have to keep this up because we are on the right path to success."

"We are happy because we're leaders. We must continue to work this way and avoid euphoria taking over. We must think of ourselves and score more goals."

"I work hard to be better each day. Playing for Real Madrid benefits me in many ways."

Higuain: "We are performing well and scoring many goals"

Di Maria: "The fans acknowledged my efforts"
Realmadrid.com / Translation by Michael J. O'Donnell

Gonzalo Higuain and Angel di Maria shared their thoughts on the match against Racing with the media.

Gonzalo Higuain
"We are very happy and we must stay on this path, but the championship has just started and it is very long. I'm sure everything will be fine if we continue to be this ambitious. People should enjoy watching this team. It is a pleasure to play like this. The merit belongs to the players, the coaching staff and those who support us."

"I don't care who is the competition's top scorer as long as he is a Real Madrid player. I am very happy for Ronaldo and for the entire team. We have the least scored upon goalkeeper and we are playing rather well. I always work for the team and I must do my job."

Di Maria
"I am happy for the ovation I received. The fans acknowledged my efforts. The coach said he was very proud of us and happy with our performance. He congratulated me for my performance."

"We are counterattacking well. We have decisive players like Ozil, Cristiano and 'Pipita' up front."

"The coach wanted me to play as a left winger at the end of the match and I tried to do my best."

Canales: "People used to say we didn't score goals at first, but we are incredible now"

"It is obvious I haven't played for a while, but it is easy to play with my team-mates"
Realmadrid.com / Translation by Michael J. O'Donnell

Sergio Canales and Pedro Leon talked about Real Madrid's 6-1 victory over Racing.

Sergio Canales
“It is special to face the team with which you made your debut in the First Division. It’s strange to face your friends and former team-mates. We talked before the match and they were all excited about playing at the Bernabeu.”

“It is currently very hard to score against Real Madrid and defeating the team is even harder. We are in great form, but we should remain calm because the league is very long.”

”It’s obvious I haven’t played for a while, but it is easy to play with my team-mates. I am working hard to have a good season and to win titles.”

”My team-mates are perfect at practically everything they do. We have to capitalise on our good streak to move ahead. People used to comment on our lack of goals at the start of the season, but we are incredible now. This is a very exciting project and things are complicated because there is a new coach and new players on the team. We’ve all adapted quickly nonetheless.”

”We have few days to prepare for games. We have to concentrate on the Copa del Rey now because it is a very important game for us.”

Pedro Leon
“We must remain calm, just as the coach says. We should be happy, but not euphoric because we’ve hardly achieved anything yet. This has only just started.”

”Everyone will get his chance. We must work hard in order to get minutes. That’s what we’re all doing.”

”My family and friends will come to our game in Murcia. I am happy because I will play against a former team of mine. I am excited and I know we have to earn a good result. The coach said he wants us to fight for every title and he already knows who will make the lineup.”
