Breaking News: Euro 2012 Qualifier - Darren Bent out of Montenegro clash

Sunderland's striker, Darren Bent has been ruled out of Three Lions' Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro tomorrow. While training with the national side, Bent picked up a groin injury, becoming the 5th player to be ruled out of the clash at Wembley.

At a press conference, Fabio Capello confirmed that Bent would not be featuring in the qualifier and opted to play Crouch along side Wayne Rooney up front. (!!!!!!) The news is not a good one for the Three Lions as the two centre-backs, John Terry and Phil Jagielka have also been pulled out owing to their injuries.

The England manager also explained his decision regarding the appointment of Rio Ferdinand as the side’s skipper. "I spoke with Steven on Sunday evening and explained why Rio will be captain against Montenegro. He understood everything - he knows the rules. I have also told the players that Rio would be captain”, claimed the English manager.

Capello added that when he started off as the 3 Lions manager, he had already made up his mind on who would be the captain and the vice captain. He emphasized that it was crystal clear to the players why Ferdinand is the Captain. Fabio continued that while talking to Gerrard, he had urged the Liverpool man to play his usual self and that he did a fantastic job when he was the 3 Lions skipper.

Also, Fabio Capello was delighted to have a fully fit Rio Ferdinand in the camp and believed that his injury prone days were over. The manager explained that he had monitored Ferdinand while training and there was nothing wrong with him. Also, he was present when Ferdinand was featuring against Valencia while playing for Manchester United and there seemed to be no problems with the 31-year-old centre-back. Capello hailed Rio’s playing ability whenever he was fit and preferred the sort of players who liked dictating the game.

"He's really important for the other players; he speaks a lot during the game. It's really important for me; I prefer this kind of player on the pitch. I’ve worked with the back four and I have big confidence in these players. The ones who are here are good at the moment. Hopefully, we will play in the same style as we did against Switzerland.” stated the English National team coach.
