This is a pointless Duckie post

(cause I've been meaning to post some Duckie, but was either busy or lazy, so I just waited until someone else did it for me)

So, MirrorFootball decided to make me smile ear to ear right before breaking my heart with the two following pieces

1) Born on 27 March 1986 in Gelsenkirchen, boyhood Schalke 04 fan Manuel Neuer has been at the club since he was five years old - but their uncertain start to the 2010/11 campaign has increased speculation that he will move to the Premier League.

2) Neuer grew up idolising former Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann, who played for the club for a decade from 1988. He said: "I like the way he handled himself and the defence."

3) Abormally strong, Neuer can throw the ball to the halfway line and often does so to launch quick counter-attacks.  He's better known for his shot-stopping. Check out the incredible foot save at 0:40 of this video of his one-man show against Porto in the 2008 Champions League.

(there are five vids in the article, but I'm only posting this one because, really, just watch it! )

4) Neuer was only Germany's third-choice keeper in World Cup qualifying. However the suicide of Robert Enke and a rib injury to René Adler saw him elevated to No.1, ahead of Tim Wiese and Hans-Jörg Butt - who replaced Neuer in the third-place playoff game as he was retiring.
5) The benefits of becoming top choice included this Nutella advert opposite Mesut Ozil. warning: German humour ahoy!

6) Neuer boasted that his bluffing persuaded blunder referee Jorge Larrionda of Uruguay not to give Frank Lampard's 'goal' when England were routed by Germany in South Africa. He said: "I realised it was over the line and I think the way I carried on so quickly fooled the referee into thinking it was not over. I tried not to react to the referee and just concentrate on what was happening. Yes, it was over. It should have been a goal for England. Probably about two metres."

7) Neuer only became a goalkeeper by accident. He said: "When I was four my mother drove me to my first practice but we got lost and by the time we got there there was only one position left - in goal."

8) After his outstanding performance in the Wold Cup quarter-final win against Argentina, Neuer led a conga line through the Germany team's hotel, which was joined by local staff. At one point things got so boisterous that Mario Gomez was seen wearing a crocheted doily on his head.

9) Neuer has a pre-match ritual - he reads the match programme from cover to cover before getting changed.

10) Neuer is reckoned to be dating a German model called Kathrin, whom he met on a Germany national team merchandise shoot. She accompanied him and his parents to the World Cup.

Neuer: I'm honoured by United link

Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has moved closer to becoming Edwin van der Sar's long-term replacement by admitting he is "honoured" to be linked with Manchester United.

The Schalke 04 star - in goal at the World Cup when Frank Lampard's shot bounced over the line but was not given - is ready to move to Old Trafford over concerns than his hometown club could miss out on the Champions League.

Schalke are currently second bottom after five defeats in their first seven games and Neuer said: "I want to be the world's No.1 keeper and stay on top. Those objectives can only be realised if I play the Champions League.

"If the season improves it is possible we could extend my contract. But the fact that Manchester United have been watching me for some time is an honour for me

(and ok, I know he doesn't say he will or want to move to United, in fact he's not saying anything at all, still it's too much for me to feel comfortable with...)
