MADRID -- Goalkeeper Iker Casillas said last Thursday that teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is selfish "in the best way possible", that there is an "excellent relationship between the entire team and José Mourinho, and that they're confident that the team will improve now that things are looking up.
"I think Real Madrid's game is overanalyzed. We're a new team. It's not that we have to ask our fans for patience, but it's normal that things start slowly improving. As for now, we're on top of the table and things are looking up."
The good performances of David de Gea, Atlético de Madrid's young goalkeeper, was another thing Casillas referred to.
"Everyone's watching him and commenting on his good performances. I don't know him personally, but he's playing really well. Seeing him reminds me of when I started 11 years ago. We all have to take care of him. He's got a promising future and when it's least expected, he'll be part of the NT."
Finally, Casillas talked about the relationship between the team and coach José Mourinho.
"We have a great relationship. He's an open-minded person and has good ideas. People try to see long trainings as if it were a punishment, when we all want what's best for the team. We have an excellent relationship with him, and when every player that's had him as coach has nothing but good things to say, it has to mean something," he pointed out.
The goalkeeper also said in several ocassions that he wished to speak only about his career and not his personal life, and he admitted that "Real Madrid is so important that they talk about the smallest things", adding that "in the dressing rooms, we're a family."
About Cristiano Ronaldo, he said: "I haven't had, nor have, nor will ever have any kind of problem with Cristiano Ronaldo because he's a fantastic teammate. He's selfish in the best way possible, because he's born to score goals. I know someone will only see that he's selfish, but I say it the good way, and he transmits that feeling to the rest of the team."
