Oliver Kahn is under discussion as a potential successor of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as chief executive officer of the German football champion Bayern München. Rummenigge whose contract expires on 31st December 2011 is supposed to stay on this position for another two years, according to the will of the board of directors. After that goalkeeper-titan Kahn who at the moment is completing a degree in economics could take over this position.
"The next two years are for my studies", said the ex-national goalkeeper to Sport Bild. The record-champion is very busy with the personnel planning. Rummenigge's surrogate Karl Hopfner seems to elongate his contract until 2012, but then plans to hand it over.
Also with the trainer van Gaal there supposedly is an agreement on an extention of the this season expiring contract until 2012.
According to Bild, the management advisory board and the board of directors accordinghave agreed that the signing could take place in this week.
Van Gaal still expressed himself reservedly: "We have to wait. Maybe I have requirements that the management does not want to accept", said the Dutch after the 2:1 against 1899 Hoffenheim in a Sky-Interview. "I have read that the management would like to extend and I will listen gladly to what they have to offer." The 59-years old again and again expained that he would like to train a national team once again: "But it is more likely that those positions will be assigned in 2012, not 2011."
Sport director Christian Nerlinger did not deny the possible contract extansion of the trainer after the match in Hoffenheim. "I don't say anything concerning negotiations and terms of a contract. But we always said that we want to continue with Louis van Gaal after 2011 when we are sure that he is the right one. Van Gaal brought us a philosophy that we want to continue", said Nerlinger.
