Uruguayan players donate the money from WC awards to create a non lucrative foundation with an objective to build schools and sport facilities around the country.
Yesterday came the annoucement that the Uruguay NT was going to donate part of the money they collected on Southafrica to create a non lucrative foundation called Fundación Celeste. The official site says:
translation: we wanted to give opportunities to grow and develop, to reach the goals of many uruguayans that by lack of economical support but not talent or effort see their possibilities go away.
Diego Perez said that the idea came while they were in Southafrica, that there were tons of ideas, but that they had a lot of time to think there and that's where everything was born. He also said that the aim was to keep supporting sports so that the movement & resources keep coming and do not stop now.
translation: the foundation will promote the development of sports and talents in the country that will help the growing of people and different social organizations. (I'm sorry for the crappy translation)
The plan is that with their money, what they collected also from yesterday dinner and what else comes now, they will build schools and sports facilities.
