And we now have a replacement for Andre Villas-Boas....just like that!

Pinto da Costa has appointed Vítor Pereira as FC Porto manager

Later on Tuesday FC Porto officially announced that Vitor Pereira has been appointed the new first-team coach on a two-year contract. Pereira joined Porto last summer as an assistant to Andre Villas-Boas. He was previously the coach at second-tier Santa Clara, narrowly missing out on promotion to the top flight in two successive seasons.

Pereira said: "Andre did a superb job here and I thank him, but I was also part of that success. This team will continue to win and can still grow more."

FC Porto has also officially announced that it has received the release clause of 15 million euros, stating that the money was paid by Andre Villas-Boas himself.

Time to move on, I'm hoping at least either Hulk or Falcao will stay. I've said all I needed to say regarding Andre in the last 2 Andre to Chelsea posts, I wish Andre all the best at Chelsea even though I feel betrayed with all his promises, I still thank him for everything. And hopefully Vitor will do well in our team.  The Portuguese Godfather is one step ahead once again.. there are more quotes in English from Pinto da Costa and Vitor here

oh look.

Villas Boas appointed as Chelsea manager

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce that Andre Villas-Boas will be the club's new manager.

He has signed a three-year contract and will start work immediately.

Andre was the outstanding candidate for the job. He is one of the most talented young managers in football today and has already achieved much in a relatively short space of time. His ambition, drive and determination matches that of Chelsea and we are confident Andre's leadership of the team will result in greater successes in major domestic and European competitions.

Andre will bring his coaching experience back to a club he is already very familiar with, having previously worked here for three years. He has always been highly regarded at Chelsea and everyone here looks forward to welcoming him back and working with him.
