Canada MNT 101 50.5

translation: everything I know, I learned from google.

I think there's a metaphor to be had about my increasing levels of CanMNT nerdiness and shrinking icebergs floundering in the middle of nowhere. Without further ado, I present google images picspam of the CanMNT Gold Cup roster, also known as that team that is playing the USMNT tomorrow. Naming all the players so that way you don't have to say, "that guy with crazy hair" to describe Julian de Guzman.

Keeper shakeup at Anfield? Plus, Henderson!!

"Once an agreement is reached betwen the two clubs, we will begin negotiating personal terms with Liverpool. Doni would be very happy to join Liverpool and play in the Premier League."

Not sure why Liverpool suddenly feel the urge to put Reina on notice, but bringing over a solid goalkeeper like Doni would be quite the wake-up call that Premier League isn't Quidditch, and there might not have to be only one set of cleats riding goal. Dalglish certainly isn't being niggardly (no, it's not a racist term, be calm and put the kettle on before you find a dictionary) with his eyeballing of outside talent, but Doni is the first goalkeeper that Anfield seems keen to court that I'm tracking. Most of the reputed potentials have been midfielders to this point, including Sunderland's Jordan Henderson (though there's a fight with Man Utd brewing over him if Liverpool really want him), Blackpool's Charlie Adam, and Aston Villa's Stewart Downing and Ashley Young.

Should Henderson pass a medical at Anfield on Wednesday, he will become Liverpool's third big money signing of 2011 after the January transfer of strike pair Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. Henderson is also set to become Kenny Dalglish's first signing since being named permanent manager at the club. Charlie Adam and Aston Villa's Stewart Downing are reported to be Liverpool's next transfer targets.

Martin Jol confirmed as the new Fulham manager

Fulham Football Club today appointed Maarten Jol as their new manager. The Dutchman has signed an initial two year contract with an extension option for an additional year. Jol said,
‘I am very Happy to join Fulham Football Club, a wonderful traditional club. It is a club with good, solid foundations and a great fan base. I am looking forward to being part of the Fulham family and thank the Chairman for the trust he’s shown in me.’

club statement. interesting guardian article.

I personally would have liked Martin O'Neill but this is a great alternative. Hopefully he can make use of our youth players and perhaps buy Fulham another Berbatov or even a Bale, haha.

The next Guardian exclusive?

So basically some presenter from the Spanish radio station Cadena SER says tonight they'll be speaking to a Spanish player who has had an "big money" offer from Liverpool and will probably be at Anfield within the next month.

Who's it gonna be - Enrique? Mata? Some kid no one has ever heard of? Bojan?

Gifspam for Germany-Uruguay friendly

On May 29th there was a friendly game between Germany and Uruguay, and what a fun game it was!

Pretty game, pretty people, pretty crowd, lots of action at both nets: the final score was 2-1 to Germany but could easily be 3 more to either side - there were 3 disallowed goals too!

I made 39 gifs for this game. Most of them may or may not feature Mario Gomez: even though I stan La Celeste he's stolen the show - he just gifs himself, what can I do. :)
But don't worry, Suarez, Forlan and Muslera and others are there too.

Take and use as you wish, but please don't hotlink outside of LJ.
