Fergie handed 5 game suspension

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been suspended for five matches and handed a £30,000 fine following comments he made about referee Martin Atkinson earlier this month.

Following a controversial 2-1 defeat at Chelsea, Ferguson said he had "feared the worst" when Atkinson was appointed match official for the Premier League clash on March 1, adding: "You want a fair referee, or a strong referee anyway - and we didn't get that."

The FA's disciplinary board have imposed a three-match touchline ban and activated a suspended two-match ban that hung over the United manager after he accused referee Alan Wiley of being "not fit" after a 2-2 draw with Sunderland at Old Trafford last season.

Ferguson will be confined to the stands for the FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City at Wembley as well as Premier League clashes with Bolton, West Ham, Fulham and Everton.

The United boss was angry over Atkinson's failure to dismiss Chelsea defender David Luiz for fouls on Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney at Stamford Bridge after he had already been booked.

He was further upset when Chelsea were awarded what he considered a "soft" winning penalty when Yuri Zhirkov took a tumble under a challenge from United centre-back Chris Smalling.

With Premier League leaders United just three points ahead of Arsenal, who have a game in hand, the lengthy suspension could have a big impact on the title race.

EDIT: The FA sanctions will commence on March 22, meaning Ferguson will be confined to the stands for the FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City at Wembley as well as Premier League clashes with West Ham, Fulham, Everton and, most crucially, away at Arsenal. - so I guess since Bolton is this weekend he'll be available for that one and instead won't be available for Arsenal.

Every dog has its day

Right, just for fun, I thought it’d be fun to go through each game an analyze matchwinners. Not Man of the Match performances, as that’s subjective, but scientifically, the person who got the winning goal in the game. So,  hypothetically, even in an 8-0 rout with all but the first goal coming from one player, the person who scored first would be the technically the “matchwinner”, in a 2-1 victory it would be the person who scored the second goal for the winning team, in a 4-3 victory, the person who scored the fourth goal for the winning team of the game chronologically. Why? Well, because one can never have enough pointless trivia about their own team, of course!

Ochocinco wants to play real football

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chad Ochocinco will try to play a different kind of football during the NFL lockout.

Never short on publicity-grabbing ideas, the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver is set for a four-day tryout with Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer starting Tuesday.

The club said Wednesday that after the tryout, it would determine whether to extend the trial period.

"We're always searching for players who can help our team and bringing in new talent," Sporting Kansas City manager Peter Vermes said. "We know that Chad is an exceptional athlete and that he loves the sport of soccer, and he did play a lot when he was younger. We're excited to see how his skills will translate once he arrives next week and begins training with our team."

Ochocinco started playing soccer at age 4 but chose to focus on football in high school.

"Due to the NFL lockout, I'm excited to be able to follow my childhood dream of playing for a Major League Soccer team," Ochocinco said.

The reality TV star is friends with such big names in soccer as Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho. In January, Ochocinco visited Ronaldo, Kaka and the rest of Real Madrid's squad and was introduced to manager Jose Mourinho.

He has said he uses a soccer ball to warm up for NFL practices and games.

Sporting Kansas City, which changed its name from the Wizards in conjunction with moving into a new stadium, opens its MLS season Saturday. It narrowly missed the playoffs last year.

Fernando who? Dagger back in training and might play tomorrow

Daniel Agger could make his return from injury during Liverpool's clash with Braga on Thursday.

Agger has been absent for the Reds' previous three games after suffering from a knee problem sustained during their Europa League victory over Sparta Prague in the previous round.

Kenny Dalglish's defence, struggling somewhat with the loss of Martin Kelly and Fabio Aurelio in recent weeks, has received a much-needed boost ahead of the last 16 return leg at Anfield with news that the Dane is in contention for a place in the side.

But despite the considerable progress made during his rehabilitation, Dalglish may opt to preserve Agger for the Barclays Premier League visit to Sunderland on Sunday

Meanwhile Denmark coach Morten Olsen has expressed concerns about the centre-back's fitness levels amidst fears that he will be unavailable for the national side's European Championship qualifier with Norway next weekend.

"Right now we can only wait, but I must admit that Daniel Agger is doubtful for the international match," conceded Olsen.

"Daniel has not played for a while now with his knee injury and we do not really know whether he is ready – and in what form he will be in.

"It's frustrating for Daniel, Liverpool and certainly for the national team before the crucial match in Norway, but we must just wait and see what happens.

"I have an agreement with Liverpool’s club doctor that we should talk one day, but he is certainly not ready yet and it is extremely worrying."

Sauce

If he plays tomorrow then Liverpool will be 1000% hotter but it sucks if he can´t play for Denmark, I like watching him and actually being able to support the team he´s playing for

DISCLAIMER:
DESPITE THE UNWRITTEN RULE SAYING OTHERWISE, I AM NOT POSTING THIS IN ORDER TO PRETEND TO LIKE HIM ONLY TO TURN ON HIM WHEN I FEEL LIKE BEING A BITCH BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE STUPID - I AM ALWAYS A BITCH. ALSO, HATING HIM WOULD REQUIRE ME NOT TO FAP OVER HIM FOR MORE THAN 30 SECONDS. DAGGER IS UNIVERSALLY HOT WHO EVER YOU SUPPORT SO EVERYONE CAN COME FAP HERE WITHOUT BEING JUDGED ;)

'Cos Chelsea you're my firework.

Good evening ladies! I trust you're all well? I was in a right mard yetserday night (because I'm a canktankerous jamesblunt like that), but my team (and Glee!) properly made me smile a lot today. =) Chelsea booked their place in the Champions League quarter finals today thanks to an assured, if goalless display against Copenhagen at Stamford Bridge.

I least wanna face Barcelona, partly because they're a bit good, but mainly because I still have nightmares about *that* game in the 2009 semi-finals when we were denied about 4 legitimate penalties; I still ain't over it. I wanna face Spurs the most, mainly for footballing reasons; I think we could take them. They might have the beating of us on their ground but I genuinely think we could follow through on our's, and also because there's nothing like travelling the best part of 5 miles to play ~European football. ;) Then there's the standard stuff like Frank vs Uncle Harry blahblahblah, but alsoooooo. Peter Crouch needs to introduce his bb daughter to Lampsy's two bbs so they can be BFFs!!!! /dumbest reason for ever wanting a CL draw.
