In an exclusive interview with Liverpoolfc.tv, the 23-year-old talked about the boost playing regularly for Brazil has given him over the last few months.
And the midfielder shared his thoughts ahead of becoming a father for the very first time.
"In March my first boy will be born. I'm really happy and it'll change my life for sure. But I'm ready for the challenge," said Lucas.
"All the players have one or two babies and so I'm getting a lot of advice because I'm new to this!" (EEEEE SO FUCKING CUTE)
Lucas put in a fine midfield display in the 2-1 victory over Blackburn on Sunday, spraying the ball out to the flanks and never shirking from a challenge.
It comes after a hat-trick of starts for Brazil under new coach Mano Menezes.
"I'm pleased with the way I played at the weekend and with how I'm playing since last season," said Lucas. "I think I'm improving all the time. I only have to do one thing: work and try to be better every single day.
"Every single year I'm improving as a player. When I first came here I was only a young player and I didn't know much about how hard the Premier League was. Now I'm completely settled. I'm still only 23 and I still have many things to work on in training.
"I'm back in the squad and playing regularly for Brazil. That's given me more confidence and the people in Brazil are happy with my performances."
Lucas has been keeping supporters up to date with what he's up to on the social networking site Twitter.

Lucas is adorable. Haters gonna hate / move to the left, etc. TYFYT
However, the Dutchman has been making a speedy recovery at Melwood.
Hodgson told us: "Dirk Kuyt is making incredible progress. He shouldn't be as far advanced as he is with his ankle but he's looking good. I don't think he'll be fit for the weekend but maybe the weekend after."
Meanwhile, Glen Johnson is a doubt for Sunday's trip to Bolton with a muscle injury which has seen him miss our last three fixtures.
"With Glen Johnson it's one of those things that will be touch and go for the weekend," said Hodgson. "He's making strides but he's not 100 per cent."
In other injury news, Ryan Babel and Fabio Aurelio both featured in a reserve friendly with Huddersfield on Tuesday - though the former was forced off after a knock to the ribs. Hospital scans have since discovered no serious damage.
Hodgson said: "Ryan got a nasty knock in the friendly match with Huddersfield, which is unfortunate. A player landed on him and his knee went into Ryan's ribs. Fortunately nothing is broken or cracked. That's good news but it's still a painful blow.
"It's a question of how quickly the pain subsides and whether he can tolerate it. It's not a major injury but it might take a couple of days.
"Fabio's fine. We wanted to give him some game time because, unfortunately, after the Trabzonspor game he played he missed a lot of football again. The sports science team were building him up and he did well against Napoli when he came on for 20 minutes.
"He played for an hour yesterday, so he's definitely making strides."
Elsewhere, Hodgson confirmed Daniel Agger was still some way short of full fitness.
Dirk is absolutely incredible. To go from being out for the rest of the year, to maybe a month and a half, to possibly going back next weekend? AMAZING. SHAKING/CRYING/ETC. And yes, two posts from me about liverpool in the matter of an hour. Oops.
Paul made a last round of global headlines after his German aquarium announced that he died in the night between Monday and Tuesday.
Paul gained worldwide fame at the World Cup by correctly predicting the winner of Germany's seven games in South Africa and the final between Spain and the Netherlands as well.
The sad news made it onto the website of the ruling football body FIFA and newspapers around the world.
Paul's Facebook page was filled with comments and users also expressed their grief on social networking site, twitter. He was named a true star of the World Cup and some suggested he should be nominated for the World Player of the Year award.
However, Maradona was also jubilant at Paul's demise, saying: "I am happy your gone Psychic Octopus, it's your fault we lost the World Cup."
The games Paul accurately predicted included Germany's quarter-final against Argentina, which the Germans won 4-0 to end Maradona's term as Argentina coach.
The predictions were made by lowering boxes into Paul's tank, each containing a mussel and a flag of the two teams. The box from which he ate the mussel was deemed to be the winner.
The aquarium in Oberhausen announced it would set up a small monument in his honour.(DPA)
Thank you, ela_alonso for bringing this to my attention :D
• Owen injured again during recovery from hamstring problem
• Striker says he 'will be out for the next few weeks'
"It's not going great. I had a bit of a tight groin a while ago and I've trained for a week preparing for last night's game [3-2 Carling Cup win over Wolves] but then I had a setback," he told 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire.
"Unfortunately, that ruled me out for last night and will rule me out for a few weeks as well."
Owen, who has scored 40 goals in 89 England appearances, has been blighted by injuries in the latter part of his career but is determined to bounce back.
"I got injured in the cup final and then subsequently this season I was in the squad for the first 10 games or so," he added.
"But unfortunately because of a training ground injury the other day I'm going to be out for the next few weeks, which is disappointing.
"It's all part and parcel of football. Everyone gets injured. Hopefully, I can come back and be as strong as ever."
Since starting in the Community Shield match in August, Owen has made six appearances for United this season, scoring two goals in the Carling Cup victory over Scunthorpe in September before following up with a crucial late equaliser against Bolton four days later.
Despite his setbacks at United, Owen insisted he is happier playing infrequently for a big club challenging for trophies than for a smaller team where he might get more opportunities.
"I've played in some of the biggest clubs in the world over my career and I've had not such a good time at certain clubs where I've been in the relegation zone struggling away," he stated.
"Training with top players every day, being among the elite players is what I enjoy doing more.
"And if that means not playing as much but playing in a good team with good players creating chances, then I'd prefer to do that than slog away every week and hardly get a touch of the ball."
Owen also missed the final three months of last season with injury.
The successor to the World-Cup predicting Paul the Octopus is French.
Seal Life aquarium spokeswoman Tanja Munzig says the new octopus, also to be called Paul, was born near the southern French city of Montpellier. He will be presented to the public next week.
The English-born Paul died of natural causes in his tank Tuesday at the aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany. He gained fame by predicting all seven of Germany's World Cup wins and Spain's victory over the Netherlands in the final.
Paul made his predictions by opening the lid of one of two clear plastic boxes, each containing a mussel and bearing a team flag.
Saw this vid on tumblr, thought I’d reblog it with the translation of the last part. =((( I realize I’m not even that upset about this, cause deep down I’ve always been a little prejudiced against footballers (esp them as being homophobic)… and yeah, they were probably joking, and high because they’d just won in Turkey, you can give me 1000000 explanations for it. I’ll still think it’s UNCOOL, guys. :(
Spain NT chanting “bleached blonde, you can suck my dick” yeah. Cool chant. Congratulations.
