Abbey Clancy's pregnancy apparently confirmed

Photobucket

Abbey Clancy is pregnant, her boyfriend Peter Crouch has confirmed.

The England footballer said he was "upset" with the way the news had emerged after it was leaked in a national newspaper.

Crouch said: "Abbey told me on 25 July that she was pregnant but we agreed to keep it private until she was ready to make an announcement.

"There were even some members of our families who were still unaware that Abbey is pregnant until today's revelations in the Sun."

But Crouch's solicitor released a statement criticising the way the paper had reported the story.

Graham Shear, representing the footballer, said: "Peter Crouch today condemned intrusive Sun reporters who followed his girlfriend to a private clinic and eavesdropped and apparently recorded her private conversation in a restaurant.

"The Sun published a story stating that Abbey is pregnant, depriving her of the opportunity to make this public in her own time and in her own way."

The news of Clancy's pregnancy comes in the wake of allegations surrounding Crouch's private life.

Pictures emerged of the 29-year-old footballer apparently flirting with women in France.

The photos appeared to show Crouch touching the thigh of a woman in a French nightclub.

Antonio Valencia out for 'good portion of season'

• Manchester United winger also suffered ligament damage
• 'A plate has been inserted to stabilise the fracture'

Antonio Valencia

Manchester United's Antonio Valencia suffered significant ligament damage as well as a fractured ankle against Rangers on Tuesday and will be out for "a good portion" of the season.

The Ecuadorian winger underwent an operation yesterday after suffering the injury in a challenge with Kirk Broadfoot in the Champions League tie at Old Trafford.

"The operation went well," said a United spokesperson. "A plate has been inserted to stabilise the fracture but there is obvious significant ligament damage that follows a dislocation and he will be out for a good portion of the season."

In the immediate aftermath of the incident, the United manager Sir Alex Ferguson ruled Valencia out of the remainder of the campaign and likened the injury to one suffered by Alan Smith in 2006.

The statement also denied claims attributed to the Ecuador team doctor about Valencia's mental state and insisted he is feeling positive about his recovery.

"Contrary to recent reports, there has been no official contact from the Ecuadorian national team," said the spokesperson. "Antonio is perfectly fine, very positive and very determined."

Glad to hear the opp went well and he could return this season though I would prefer him not too rush back and come back when he's fully fit and if that's next season so be it.

WERK IT, LUDO!

(Yes, he really is that short.)

PSG's Ludovic Giuly was famously crossed off both Raymond Domenech's Christmas list and his list of guys to call up when Ludo hit on RayRay's lady. Clearly, Ludo wasn't too broken up about his exclusion from the World Cup squad.

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho

The Portuguese Football Federation wants the Real Madrid coach, José Mourinho, to take charge of the national side for two Euro 2012 qualifiers in October, the Portuguese sports newspaper Record reported today.

The FPF president, Gilberto Madail, travelled to Spain to meet Mourinho's agent, Jorge Mendes, says the report, to try to persuade Real Madrid to release their Portuguese coach for the qualifiers at home against Denmark on 8 October and away to Iceland four days later.

Portugal sacked Carlos Queiroz earlier this month in the wake of his six-month suspension for insulting anti-doping agents before the World Cup and have yet to name a replacement.

Portugal's Euro 2012 qualifying campaign has got off to a dismal start with a 4-4 home draw with Cyprus followed by a 1-0 defeat in Norway.
