BILL SHANKLY will never die, he lives in heart of every Liverpool Fan

It has been more than 50 years since the appointment of the working class hero as the Liverpool manager.  he managed the club from December 1959 until July 1974, winning three league titles, two FA Cups and one UEFA Cup along the way.  His tough upbringing was the basis for his own brand of humanitarian based socialism, and he would joke in later life that he never had a bath until aged 15, and that the poverty brought about a good sense of humour.
Football was a way of getting away from the mine shafts - either on a Saturday afternoon and during weekly training, or as a professional option. All five Shankly brothers were members of the Glenbuck Cherrypickers - a team famous at the time for producing 49 footballers from the village.

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna not moved by France captaincy rumours
(Um, what?)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has says he is unconcerned about rumours he is to be named the new France captain.

New head coach Laurent Blanc is on the lookout for a skipper after previous incumbent Patrice Evra's five-match ban after his role in the World Cup 2010 disaster. The ex-Manchester United defender has declared he will choose his successor on Friday, with Sagna, Roma's Philippe Mexes and Chelsea's Florent Malouda the rumoured candidates.

Speaking to L'Equipe, Sagna stated he will just concentrate on passing on his experience to the younger players in the squad.

He said: "As a player called regularly, yes, I think [I could be a candidate].

"Now, the most important thing is first to be powerful, to pass on my experience to the younger players and put them at ease.

"My role is to defend the colors of the France team, not worry about that [captaincy].

"But I think every player here feels important. In order to make an impression and assert themselves, it takes personality."

Ibra's got a lot (more) to say....

Ibra: Guardiola is a small-time coach

Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hit out at Pep Guardiola's lack of communication which caused him to leave the Nou Camp.

The 28-year-old, who joined Barca last summer from Inter Milan in exchange for 46million euros and Samuel Eto'o, signed for AC Milan at the weekend on an initial one-year loan with a pre-arranged option of a permanent deal worth 24million euros at the end of the season.

At a press conference ahead of Sweden's opening Euro 2012 qualifier against Hungary on Friday, Ibrahimovic cited an irretrievable breakdown in his relationship with the Barca boss as the reason for his exit.

Christian Poulsen on Gernando

Why was the original post deleted? I'm re-posting it!

Christian Poulsen made his Barclays Premier League debut during the 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion and feels he is now ready to show his best form.

"When I came here I had not played since the World Cup so I feel I need some time to get into the rhythm but last Thursday (in  the second leg against Trabzonspor) I did better than in the first game," he added.

"I feel comfortable here. The match against West Brom was the first game with Fernando Torres and the captain Steven Gerrard so you have to learn how they want the ball.

"Fernando is a strong player and can do things at speed and can do things one against one.

You also feel Steven and Fernando have a good eye for each other and you saw that against West  Brom - I hope it will get even better."
