i'm no mod and i know its not my place, but a lot of us think we should really stick to the not posting articles about Cesc until something is finalised.

Uruguay team WC-2010 gif- and wordspam

Somehow for me this WC ended up All.About.Uruguay.

In Forlan, I saw the Beautiful Game as it should be. He is so perfect: a leader, a true athlete, a football genious, a gentleman on the pitch and off, plus he's gorgeous, OK? :) But enough or I'll be repeating this cartoon.

And Uruguay the shunned underdog, failing and yet gaining glory and making history, impressing us with their modesty and class in RL - what a tale!

I was sad when it ended - and then it dawned on me.
I didn't see any of the Uruguay games before Uruguay-Ghana, except a bit of highlights! As at the time I could care less. And that meant I still had tons of unseen footage of Uruguay boys to drool over!

And after days of happy watching and giffing, here's what I learned about them, illustrated with ~40 gifs from games with Mexico & South Korea.
Disclaimer - I'm not an expert, just my impressions, please don't hit me. :D Also - not dial-up friendly! Also - please don't hotlink outside this comm.

By the way, both games were spectacular! Both had Happy!Crazy!Suarez. And Mexico game had epic Bloody!Perez. And in South Korea game it was raining - 'nuff said.

Ok, now back to my learnings.

Diego Forlan.
I learned that he's more than golden locks and pretty goals from long distance.
He's the grossmeisster of the field, always moving his forwards into positions to score. And when it works, it looks like this:

Nice, eh? Texbook combination, perfectly done by Cavani and Suarez, and yet Forlan set them up for it.

Luis Suarez.
I wrote a long passage of apologies of why I think that he gave us one of the greatest moments of football, but I get why some people thought it was a disgrace, yadda-yadda.
But you know what - to hell with it. He DID give us the greatest moment of football. No apologies.
Check out this FIFA page where people all over the world, 900 and counting, name their best moments of WC. A LOT name Hand of Suarez, and everybody says it was great. Didn't get the cheating memo I guess, just enjoyed the thrill, and no one should blame them.

But the real revelation for me was Uruguay defense, and the captain Diego Lugano.
Collapse )

And the brightest star of Diego Lugano's squad is Jorge Fucile.
He's an awesome defender, but sorry all my thoughts turn shallow when I look at him. I promise to make gifs where he kicks ass! But now all I can see is his silky black hair, and the ball he caresses in his shirt...

Diego Perez
Finally! Collapse )

Collapse )

Last line of defense but not least - Fernando Muslera.
He made 2 most important saves for Uruguay in a long time, and he's a hottie who loves his goal posts!
Collapse )

I didn't mention everyone but I love them all.

And finally one guy we want to see the most in 2014!

Some leftover bonus gifs Collapse )

The second part is coming in 1-2 weeks, with France and South Africa gifs.
El Ruso Perez thanks you for your patience!

Mano Menezes to be Brazil manager

Wow, its been messy for Brazil trying to find a replacement for Dunga as Brazil manager. With Leonardo and Scolari previously frontrunning, over the last week, it seemed to come down to2 men from within Brazil – Mano Menezes and Muricy Ramalho, the coaches of respectively, Corinthians and Fluminense.

Menezes had previously become the frontrunner, but then out of nowhere, Ramalho seemed to be confirmed as manager. Except Fluminense wouldn’t release him from his contract (which has two years left to run) and now, Menezes is back in the frame, he’s expected to formally accept the job offer in a press conference this afternoon.

So what do we know about Mano Menezes?

For a start he is obviously Brazilian, despite whispers that Brazil would consider someone from abroad. He’s been in club management since 1997, in Brazil. He’s achieved much on the domestic scene, and importantly has a reputation for rebuilding – he’s pulled both Gremio and Corinthians two big names in Brazil, up from lower leagues back into the top division.

Its a big job at the best of times, but with Brazil hosting the 2014 World Cup (first time they’ve been hosts since 1950, where they famously lost in the final), the pressure could not be higher. Whoever is manager, Brazil will be expected to win a World Cup on home turf. Its going to be fascinating to watch it play out

idk idk idk...

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba undergoes groin surgery.

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is likely to miss the start of the season after undergoing a groin operation.

Didier Drogba

The club described the procedure performed on the Ivory Coast international as "minimally invasive".

And it is expected that Drogba, 32, will return to full training in about three weeks.

That estimate would, however, put him out of the Charity Shield match against Manchester United on 8 August and the start of the Premier League campaign.

A short statement on Chelsea's official website said he had been troubled by a groin injury for part of last season and the decision to have the operation on Friday was intended to "optimise his rehabilitation".

Drogba has been a prolific scorer for Chelsea since joining them from French club Marseille in July 2004 for a reported fee of £24m and was on target 37 times during the 2009-10 season to help the team to a first Premier League and FA Cup Double.

Chelsea have a serious of injury concerns ahead of the new Premier League campaign, which they will begin with a home match against newly promoted West Brom on 14 August.

New signing Yossi Benayoun also has a groin problem, first-choice goalkeeper Petr Cech is expected to be out for about a month because of a calf injury and defender Alex hurt his thigh in training.

Higuain urges Cole to join Real

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Cole has spent more time on the front pages than the back pages in recent months in the wake of his high-publicised split from his pop star wife Cheryl Cole.

The Chelsea full-back has been linked with a move to Real Madrid where he would be reunited with former Blues manager Jose Mourinho and Higuain has told Cole that he would enjoy a quieter life if he were to sign for the Spanish side.

"At Madrid, Cole's football will make all the headlines, not his private life. I think that will be a big incentive for him," Higuain is quoted as saying in The Sun.

"I have spoken with a couple of senior players who the club confide in and they are very confident that we will sign him in the next few weeks."

de man van mijn dromen

Boy cares about his (and family's) future

Dimitar Berbatov, Man Utd's (not so well) loved striker, is accepted as a student in the Bulgarian National Academy of sports, says local "24 hours" newspaper. Berbatov, 28, has supposedly passed a bulgarian literature exam, obtaining an amazing 5,50 ( 6 being the highest grade ).  A letter from Sir Alex Ferguson, stating that Dimitar has won a national prize with United freed him from an exam in sports. Man United player has chosen to study for a football coach, leading to assumptions for a likely career following his active one.  Berbatov will have a personal advisor for the scholar year of 2010/1011, hoping to be able to go back to Sofia in january to pass his exams.

We wish Mitko all the best for the upcoming season/scholar year, as well as  lots of joy with his loveeely daughter  Dea :)))

PS: As this is my first entry, I'm thinking there's plenty of things to be improved, as in things for me to be learnt,  so that is why I'm not handeling cuts or pictures too well. Here is one (picture) of Berba and his girl, however, and please someone tell me the 10 differences between Elena and Sara Carbonero, style-wise. www.bulgaria-news.bg/explorer/articles/article13182/original.jpg

Park Ji Sung & Patrice Evra Like Super Junior

Manchester United’s Park Ji Sung recommended Super Junior’s songs to his team mate.

Manchester United’s defender Patrice Evra wrote in his personal twitter in May that “Bonamana is a good song” and “Park Ji Sung really likes Super Junior”.

‘Bonamana’ is the English name of Super Junior’s 4th regular album’s title song “Miinah”.

Netizens who saw this replied “should have invited Super Junior to the welcoming ceremony of the national representatives”*, “seems like Park Ji Sung really likes Super Junior”.

Super Junior’s leader Leeteuk who knew about this belatedly responded on his personal twitter on the 21st “thank you very much Park Ji Sung player”.

* - the welcoming back ceremony that the country had for the South Korean team when they came back from World Cup matches.
