Paris Hilton 'kicked out of World Cup match
for smoking marijuana'

Heiress Paris Hilton tonight appeared at a special World Cup court after being arrested for smoking dope at a quarter final match.
The 29 year old was picked up by police outside the Nelson Mandela stadium in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth after watching Holland beat Brazil.
The socialite had arrived in the host country by private plane on Wednesday for a 'soccer and safari' trip, but was seized by officers and taken to the police station after she was found in possession of marijuana
A spokeswoman for police at Port Elizabeth, Brig. Marinda Mills confirmed a high profile person was appearing in court on drug-related charges.
'This person is appearing in court right now. We cannot reveal information about her until she has appeared in court. I am here with the individual in court, we're waiting for the court to start,' Brig Mills said.
A police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity said Ms Hilton was caught with an unspecified amount of marijuana.
'She was found in possession of some amount of dagga,' the officer said, using the local name for marijuana.
South Africa's Times newspaper reported that Hilton was escorted by police to the Mount Road Police Station in Port Elizabeth shortly before 8pm.

EDIT II: "Paris Hilton was questioned today by police in South Africa on allegations of smoking marijuana," a publicist for Hilton said. "However I can confirm that the incident was a complete misunderstanding ... The case has been dropped against Paris and no charges will be made."

Best awful football questions?

I know I can't be the only one being inundated with questions by people who don't know jack about football. It really is becoming and epidemic here in the US.

There are some of the usual questions:

"Did they play well?"

What is offsides?"

Which I can understand. Collapse )

So what are the best football questions you have been asked?

Jaffa wants to make you an offer to play for his team

I saw this ad for the first time today, more of the "random" kind than the "epic" kind

now that the celebrating for today has died down, post your favorite world cup ads. or any kind of football ads. from whenever year.
then argue whether nike or adidas makes the best ones
then discuss whether we are being brainwashed by having our favorite footballers in advertisements
then discuss which team(s) you think snoop dogg supports.

someone needs a 200 texts per month plan!

Some things never change. . .

. . .yummy!

Disgraced Ashley Cole sent sex texts to a young model he spotted on the internet just hours before England kicked off in crucial World Cup games.

Two-and-a-half hours before the opening clash with the USA – as Cole was preparing to play for his country – he was begging the blonde to send him “a real dirty” naked picture of herself.

Even after that dismal 1-1 draw, he was still thinking of sex as the team set out days later for their crunch Slovenia match – sending another text pleading with the model to send him another explicit picture.

The woman, who Cole started to text and send pictures of himself to after spotting her on a pal’s Facebook page, said: “He was sending texts so close to games he must have been doing it before jumping on the team coach on his way to the matches.

Cole sent the model, who he has never met, 139 messages over the tournament... urging her again and again to send him erotic photos and videos.

He bragged he was drunk at England’s training camp, complained of being “bored” under manager Fabio Capello’s strict regime and called an England performance “s***” [source].

Outgoing French Football Federation president Jean-Pierre Escalettes believes Nicolas Anelka should never play for his national side again.

The Chelsea striker was disgracefully sent home during the World Cup by Raymond Domenech after he refused to apologise for his half-time dressing-room bust up with the former coach.

This event triggered a mutiny within the French camp, with players refusing to train in support of Anelka.

Les Blues went on to lose their final group game against hosts South Africa.

Escalettes, who resigned from his post in the wake of France’s woeful campaign, was speaking to the Cultural Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, which has held an inquest into France’s disastrous World Cup tournament.

“Neither I nor my successor, nor the future coach will forget what happened and everyone will ensure that he can not play for France," Escalettes said at the meeting.

Escalettes found out about the dressing-room incident during France’s second World Cup game against Mexico from reading L’Equipe.

"As soon as I knew, and having made a minimum of checks - a player told me that the remarks were worse than reported - I immediately punished the perpetrator of this insult," he said.

Domenech, who was also at the hearing, was required to explain why he refused to shake the hand of South Africa coach Carlos Alberto Parreira following their defeat.

At the time, Domenech said he was reacting to Parreira’s comments regarding Thierry Henry’s handball against Ireland, which helped them to qualify for the tournament.

"The whole of France being well-meaning and so quick to make moral found no fault with the accusations of Mr Parreira," said Domenech.

"It is important for me to defend the image of the France team. I probably did not measure the negative media coverage of my gesture.

"I probably should have told him directly and discreetly."

Keisuke Honda post

AC Milan Keen on Japan Star Keisuke Honda‎

Impressed with his displays at the World Cup, Italian giants AC Milan are weighing up a move for Japanese midfielder Keisuke Honda. The 24-year-old first came to the attention of Milan with a series of fine performances in the Champion League for Russian side CSKA Moscow, who had been quick off the blocks to snap up Honda from Dutch club VVV Venlo in late 2006.

Honda would not come cheap for the Italians and the signs are CSKA have no intention of selling a players they have only just acquired, but the Gazetta dello Sport states Milan officials have already sounded out the Russians.

If the Japanese midfielder did make the move to the San Siro he would become the first ever from his country to play for the famous Rossoneri.
