World Cup 2010: Pele's predictions

The former Brazil striker may be the greatest player ever, but his World Cup predictions are never up to much

Pelé may be the greatest player in history but despite being paid to travel the world talking about football, what he actually says about it is hugely unreliable. 'When Pelé's quiet, he's a poet,' says Romario. 'But he just talks shit.' Here are the highlights of his past 20 years

Call me superstitious but after reading this I'm pretty worried for Spain/Brazil/England's changes. I really hope he doesn't jinx their chances. Any thoughts? Anyone?

PS. I hope it's okay to post this here coz I'm new to this community and it's my first post. If there's any problems then I apologize for it.

New PSG deal for Makelele

Former France international Claude Makelele has signed a one-year extension to his contract with Ligue 1 side Paris Saint Germain.

Makelele's future had been in doubt with his current deal set to expire this summer amid reports of a bust-up with club officials.

However, following a meeting with PSG president Robin Leproux, the veteran holding midfielder postponed plans to hang-up his boots and has comitted to another season with capital club.

"I'm relieved, because I believe in this club," Makelele told Canal Plus. "There will be some important recruitment and the target is interesting - to make this an important club again in France.

"I share the ambitions of the coach and the club."

A Champions League and two-time Primera Division winner with Real Madrid, Makelele joined PSG in 2008 after a successful five-year stint at Chelsea during which he picked up two Premier League titles.

He played 31 games for PSG last term and helped the club to Coupe de France glory.

This is Why He's Hot

The New York Times did an interview with Freddie Ljungberg last week. He talked about his favorite things -- things like Titi, Spain, apple juice, and teh gays:
On Gossip: There’s been a gay rumor for a long time. I don’t mind at all. I am proud of that. I love fashion, and I think so many gay people have amazing style. So that is a compliment to me. I really don’t know why people are so interested. I just made a decision that I won’t talk about it.

Yossi Benayoun reportedly agrees terms with Chelsea

Liverpool midfielder
Yossi Benayoun has agreed terms with Chelsea, according the Israeli Sport 5 Web site.

The 30-year-old reportedly agreed to a four-year contract at the Blues and is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days before putting pen to paper.

The Israeli enjoyed another solid season at Liverpool, scoring nine goals in 42 appearances, but suggested late in the campaign that the uncertainty surrounding the club's future could see him leave Anfield.

Late last month, Benayoun said that he anticipated a move to Stamford Bridge, after Chelsea made a formal move for him.

"[Chelsea Manager Carlo] Ancelotti wants me for next season and now everything depends on Liverpool. Chelsea will have to pay some £6million but I believe that in the end I'll be moving there," he then said.

Benayoun penned a four-year deal to remain at Anfield last summer and became a regular fixture in Rafael Benitez's side over the previous two seasons despite a muted arrival from West Ham United in 2007.

But an increased salary and the prospect of regular appearances in next season's Champions League proved too strong for him to resist and he is set to return to England later this week to undergo a medical at Chelsea's training complex in Cobham before being unveiled.

It is not yet clear how much Chelsea will be paying for the Israeli's services.

His Chelsea contract was set to expire at the end of the 2012/2013 season.
