FA chief 'could quit' 2018 bid team over bribe claim

The future of England's 2018 World Cup bid chairman is in doubt after a newspaper claimed he said Spain was planning to bribe World Cup referees.

The Mail on Sunday said FA chief Lord Triesman suggested Spain could end its bid to host the 2018 World Cup if rival bidder Russia helped bribe referees.

The 2018 team has already faxed apology letters to the Russian and Spanish FAs.

The Mail on Sunday claims to have obtained a secretly tape-recorded conversation of Triesman talking to a former aide.

The FA have so far refused to comment but BBC sports editor David Bond explained: "The 2018 team are distancing themselves from Lord Triesman's comments and have told Fifa, Russia and Spain that they don't share those views that have been expressed in the story.

With another goal by Diego Milito (after a brilliant assistance by Il Capitano) Inter defeated Siena and won their 18th Scudetto! PARTYYY :D

Milito: "It's the most important goal of my career. We are very happy, we deserve it. Luckily that ball went in after the chances we missed in the first half. I'm happy."

Zanetti: "I'm dedicating this Scudetto to my family: to Paula, Sol and Ignacio, and all our fans. Now we have to remain concentrated on next Saturday's final in Madrid, but for now let's enjoy this fifth Scudetto. It was a triumph against everything and everybody, by a team that showed its strength. But compliments to Roma."
