Manchester United Ready to Beat Chelsea to £35m La Liga Striker

Sir Alex Ferguson is preparing a massive bid to nab Atletico Madrid’s Argentine international Sergio Aguero, right under the noses of long term interest party Chelsea. The Old Trafford boss has been looking at potential striking signings this summer to help share the goal scoring duties with Wayne Rooney and has earmarked the 21 year old as an ideal signing.

Aguero has made it clear he would welcome a move to Stamford Bridge and seems certain to leave Atletico at the end of the season the only issue for Ferguson could be getting the funds together to make such a move for the highly rated youngster.

Even though Manchester United were named the richest club on the planet by Forbes magazine they are also heavily in debt and as such Sir Alex may struggle to persuade the Glazers to fork out the cash for the La Liga hotshot.

Sergio Aguero has been in stunning form over the past three seasons, netting 67 goals in the process, but a poor season has left Madrid’s ‘other’ club securely in mid table and are apparently in financial dire straits that could see them considering big offers for the former Independiente man.

Loss of Fernando Torres 'damaged belief' says Steven Gerrard
The Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard, has admitted the recent absence of Fernando Torres damaged belief within the squad but says the team have overcome that obstacle in recent weeks, inspired by the prospect of a Europa League final.

"I won't lie. Sometimes when you lose your top striker, it can damage belief and affect your confidence," said Gerrard. "But this was much better," he said, following Liverpool's 4-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League. "It was important we scored a few goals against Burnley and won convincingly." Gerrard scored twice in a match for the first time this season as Liverpool condemned Burnley to relegation. He then looked forward to the second leg of their Europa League semi-final against Atlético Madrid at Anfield. The Spanish take a one-goal advantage into the match.

ONE of sports most beautiful former WAGS, football star Frank Lampard's stunning ex-fiancee says she's finally seen the light and would rather marry a fat man - and she hates fat men.

Now Elen, 35, has declared she wants a man but not a footballer.

“I’m so over Frank - I’m not in love with him any more," she told The Daily Mirror newspaper in the UK.

"I will never date another footballer as long as I live. I’d rather go out with a fat man - and I hate fat men.”

Elen said she has stayed single after the nasty split with Lampard, who earns $200,000 (£120,000) a week.

“I’ve held back for more than a year, the longest ever, because my daughters (Luna and Isla) come first. The right man would have to fit into all our lives.

“I want to find a man and get married. I miss having a man - in every way."

But Elen lamented; “Nice, good-looking men just don’t chat me up. I wish they would!

“The only guys who come on to me are fat bankers. I pretend to be a lesbian just to get rid of them. But it never seems to work.”

Elen does have a checklist for the right man.

Manchester City make emergency goalkeeper request.

Manchester City have asked the Premier League for permission to sign a goalkeeper on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season.

And BBC Sport understands the request is set to be granted, even though the transfer window closed on 1 February.

Shay Given will miss City's last three games after dislocating a shoulder in the 0-0 draw with Arsenal on Saturday.

Stuart Taylor is also out and Joe Hart is on loan at Birmingham, which leaves only the inexperienced Gunnar Nielsen.

The Faroe Islands international had never played in the Premier League until the last 17 minutes of the draw at the Emirates, where Given had to leave the field on a stretcher.

However, manager Roberto Mancini has no back-up for Nielsen and cannot risk losing another goalkeeper at such a crucial stage as the club push for the fourth Champions League place.

Sixth-placed City cannot recall England international Hart under the terms of his season-long loan deal at St Andrew's, while former Arsenal keeper Taylor is still recovering from knee surgery.

His presence as City's number one keeper forced Hart, 23, to seek first-team opportunities outside of Eastlands.

Nielsen joined City in 2009 on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers after a loan spell with Blue Square Premier side Wrexham

Rumours are City will sign Fulop who's Sunderland's number 2 though he has played a lot of matches this season due to injuries to Craig Gordon. But is this fair? It's not like they don't have any GK's at all to play..

Wayne Rooney and Ashley Cole's horror as tourist, 17, dies after 'drug collapse' in Royals' nightclu

A 17-year-old tourist died early today after partying in London's Whisky Mist nightclub, where Wayne Rooney was celebrating being named Player of the Year.

The teenager from Lisbon, Portugal, collapsed in the club - which regularly attracts the likes of Princes Harry and William, and Kate Middleton - at approximately 1.20am.

He was then taken to a central London hospital where he later died.
Another man was arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs.

A team of paramedics battled to save the clubber's life as he lay on the pavement outside the nightclub. This morning the club was still cordoned off as police carried out further inquiries.

Rooney had been at the club along with his brother Graeme and fellow England footballer Ashley Cole after he was earlier awarded the PFA Player of the Year Award.

The first one is from waaay back, that fated game against Chelsea last year. While getting his hair done, Messi has a scary dream...

This one..I'm not sure when the date was as it doesn't really have a significant match. Barca fans are whistling at the Spanish national anthem, and Keite gets confused at the whole Catalans in La Seleccion thing. Guest appearance by our bibibububobobojan!

Schalke 04, currently tied for first place in the Bundesliga and sure contenders for the Champions' League next season, are about to land a transfer of the decade.

Metzelder (presently playing for Real Madrid) and his personal manager Joerg Neubauer were spotted in Berlin together with Schalke 04 coach Felix Magath, who led Wolfsburg last season to their first Bundesliga championship.

All indications point towards Metzelder making his return to the Bundesliga with the arch nemesis of his former side Borussia Dortmund where he played from 2000 to 2007, eventually captaining the squad for five years.

Metzelder was lauded in Dortmund throughout his time there for his utmost dedication to the club.

The rivarly between Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund entertains perhaps the strongest and most well known rivalry in German football with the Gelsenkirchen side Metzelder is about to sign for. In addition, Metzelder and Schalke 04 so far share a rich animosity; he stated back in 1995 after spending a year in the Schalke youth that his time there was "disastrous."

Much later, in his last season for Dortmund, Metzelder almost singlehandedly ruined Schalke's grab for the Bundesliga title on the second to last match day by assisting two goals in which Dortmund scored in their victory to commemorate ths Dortmund "holiday." After the victory, Metzelder and his friend Sebstian Kehl, sold commemorative "killer of dreams" t-shirts. [source]
