Fabio Capello names Steven Gerrard as England captain

Fabio Capello has confirmed Steven Gerrard will be England's captain against Egypt at Wembley on Wednesday.
Gerrard leads the side in place of the injured Rio Ferdinand, who was promoted to skipper after John Terry's demotion.

Ahead of the World Cup the England boss said he was keen to move on from the reports of Terry's alleged affair with Wayne Bridge's former partner.

Mo Money Mo Problems

Arsenal have overtaken Chelsea in the "rich list" of European clubs while Manchester United have dropped into third place with Barcelona taking their place in second behind their Spanish rivals Real Madrid.
Click here or click the image to launch our guide to the Deloitte Football Money League top 20.
The Deloitte Football Money League sees the two La Liga clubs secure the top spots, mainly because of the continuing decline of the pound against the euro. The most notable change in the list, based on clubs' revenue excluding transfer fees, sees Arsenal leapfrog Chelsea with the Gunners recording a 7 per cent rise in revenue to £224m compared to their London rivals' £206m – a 3 per cent fall in revenue.
Real Madrid have topped the "rich list" for the past five years but Barcelona's unprecedented success last season, where they won five trophies, has seen them overtake United despite a 9 per cent rise in income at Old Trafford.
Deloitte spokesman Dan Jones said: "Chelsea's revenue has dropped because last season was a bit worse than usual on the pitch, they had frozen season ticket prices and there was not a lot going on in big new commercial developments. Arsenal have the advantage in matchday income with a new 60,000-seater stadium and they made the semi-finals of both the Champions League and the FA Cup."

T-100 days till World Cup 2010

Top 10 Games to Watch

While heroes, villains and legendary teams are made in the knockout stages of the World Cup, that doesn't stop the group phase from having its own set of endearing qualities. It's a period when even the wildest dreams seem possible, even for the tiniest of minnows. And there have been plenty of occasions when these supposed little fish have feasted on some of the bigger names.

It is this prospect of the unexpected that gives the tournament a different, though no less enticing, cadence in its early days. The lack of pressure on some of the participants can also serve to make the games more open, as opposed to the drab tactical chess matches that often ensue when the noose of increased expectations begins to tighten in the later rounds.

With that in mind, here are the matches to keep an eye on in the group stage.

The Emirates turning into Highbury/Chief Executive dismisses Cesc rumours

Arsenal to restore Highbury Clock at the Emirates

Arsenal's chief executive, Ivan Gazidis, has said the club are looking to bring the Highbury Clock to the Emirates. The famous clock, which was erected in the early 1930s by the then-manager Herbert Chapman, is expected to be in place for the start of next season.

"We want to bring the clock back into the stadium and we will move back to having a Clock End, a North Bank, and East and West stands," he told the Daily Telegraph. "We want to make sure it is the best stadium in the world, five, 10 and 15 years from now.

"We want to make it not just a technological marvel but a place that our fans can feel the traditions of the club."

The chief executive also reiterated his belief that Cesc Fábregas will stay at Arsenal for a long time and continue to resist the temptation of joining his first club, Barcelona. "There is a [presidential] electoral cycle that happens at Barcelona and Real Madrid and every time they go through the cycle there are a group of players that end up filling column inches."

The Guardian

Bringing back the clock is pretty retro I must say.

RIP Gernando. Rooney has taken over ;)

Gerrard admits Rooney is THE BEST.

Steven Gerrard has hailed Wayne Rooney as "currently the best player in the world" and believes it is vital he retains form and fitness if England are to win the World Cup this summer.

Rooney scored his 28th goal of the season in helping Manchester United come from behind to defeat Aston Villa in Sunday's Carling Cup final at Wembley.

And he is set to lead England's attack in tomorrow evening's friendly with African Nations Cup winners Egypt at the same venue, the final game before Fabio Capello announces his provisional squad for South Africa.

Gerrard has known all about Rooney's ability from his days as a teenage sensation at Everton.

And he knows the nation's hopes of winning football's greatest prize will depend to a large extent on his ability to perform at the highest level.

Gerrard said: "For England United, I hope Wayne can sustain the way he is playing until mid-July  May.

"His form this season has been special and I agree with Sir Alex Ferguson in that he is now in that bracket of world class and is up there with the top players in the world.

"From England's United's point of view, if Wayne can continue that kind of form until the summer he is going to be a key player for us.

"There are a lot of good amazing players in the England United squad but, the form Wayne is in, it is vital that we can keep him fit.

"Everyone will have their fingers crossed he can avoid injury and he is fit and in this form going into the World Cup.

"At the moment, on current form, Wayne is the best player in the world, in my opinion."

Nike close control adverts, Ronaldinho, Robinho, Tevez and LUCAS :)

I haven't watched the videos but the point is nike see Lucas as one of the best players they sponsor close control wise. This is probably the most Brazilian Lucas has felt in a very long time. Ronaldinho has been boss this season, he's actually looking like the player he was at Barca.

The videos are at the link.

Also, Lucas loves Masch and says that Stevie is better than Kaka

If you call Lucas a prick for saying Stevie is better than Kaka, he might cry.
