Ashley Cole has every intention of riding out the present storm and staying at Chelsea despite his anger at what he perceives as a media witch-hunt.
It has been widely speculated that Cole may be considering a move in the wake of latest bout of allegations about his private life. It has been suggested that Cole could be hit with a heavy fine by his club, while the player is understood to be angry at the negative media coverage concerning him.
However, at the moment, Cole is not looking to leave Stamford Bridge, although he may reconsider if the stories about his off-field activities continue.
A close associate of the England defender told Soccernet: "Ashley's private life is his private life. There is a media campaign against him and you would expect him to be p****d off about it.
"If this kind of thing continues, players will think about playing abroad, but Ashley is not considering anything like that for the time being.
"There is a lot of speculation but, as yet, nothing seems to be happening. If he has been daft or stupid, he has his wife to answer to and he will sort it out or he won't - but at the moment he is not discussing it."
Cole's camp also stressed that, as far as they are aware, Chelsea have no plans to make a disciplinary issue of the player's private life.
It was announced on Tuesday that Cole and his wife, Cheryl, are to separate. A statement from Supersonic PR said: "Cheryl Cole is separating from her husband Ashley Cole. Cheryl asks the media to respect her privacy during this difficult time."
