English boy becomes a football star in Brazil after he is spotted by scouts on a school trip

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Seth Burkett, 18, was on tour with his local youth team AFC Stamford from Stamford when he was spotted by football agent Anderson da Silva in June. The agent was so impressed with Seth's footballing talents he quickly signed him up for league outfit Sorriso EC and the youngster made his debut in November.

Seth is now the only British man playing professionally in Brazil and has become a national celebrity after playing against top-side Palmeiras in a cup match. Seth used to play for Peterborough United academy and rejected a contract with Kettering Town two years ago to finish his A-levels.

He plans to return to England to study science at sports science at Loughborough University within the next two years depending on his Brazilian football career. The uncle of Seths' grandfather, former football star Charlie Williams, managed Brazilian giants Corinthians after retiring from playing for Arsenal.

Fiorentina has a Serb? And an Argie?

I am SO sorry about falling behind on the Serie A posts. I promise I'll do them tomorrow after all the games are over with. Besides, tomorrow is the Derby dell Madonnina aka Milan derby. So yes. Anyways, Fiorentina bought some players! First of is Adem Ljajic who some of you might know as having a trial with Manchester United. Well they didn't snap him up so Fiorentina did!

We also have a new Argentinian, the one that saved Mardadona's job. Mario Bolatti. He was on loan at Huracan from Porto. I don't know too much about him so if you do, please do tell.

Now, onto the pictures! Collapse )

Neither Adem nor Mario have played, though Mario will have the chance to possibly start tomorrow. There is still an issue with Adem's work permit but I am hoping that all the kinks will be worked out in time for next week.

Adem and Steven Jovetic knew each other from their younger days and have been back to being BFFs and Jovetic has now been Adem's translator ♥

Gago to City, and Ayala to River

LONDON -- Real Madrid's midfielder could become in the next hours Carlos Tevez's teammate, given that Manchester City would offer €15M for his transfer.

Meanwhile, in Boca Juniors they're expecting the negotiation to fail so that the Argentinian player can return to the club on loan for 4 months.

This Saturday, Manchester City will make an offer for the midfielder, €15M, through his agent Fernando Lombilla, who flew to Europe to close the deal.

Some days earlier, Gago's agent had travelled to Argentina to close the transfer to Boca Juniors, something that now seems far-fetched after the large sum offered by the club in which also play Carlos Tevez and Pablo Zabaleta.

On his side, Gago is very excited about the offer, not just regarding the economical side, but also for the chance to get some minutes of play, something the player needs to do more often than he does at Real Madrid if he wants to be in the next World Cup.

BUENOS AIRES -- The Argentinian defender Roberto Ayala has ended his contract with Zaragoza and now River Plate has the chance to negotiate with the player to bring him back to the country and strengthen their last line facing the upcoming Clausura.

dont be so ruud

Hamburg - Ruud van Nistelrooy has passed a medical examination and is set to join SV Hamburg early next week from Real Madrid.

Van Nistelrooy will be in Hamburg on Monday to sign a contract until the end of the season with an option to extend the deal until next year, according to the reports.

There has been no official confirmation from the Bundesliga club.

Madrid are reportedly not asking for a fee for the 33-year-old Dutch striker who has hardly played since he suffered a serious knee ligament injury in November 2008.

Van Nistelrooy joined Real in 2006 from Manchester United where he scored 95 goals in 150 games. He was top scorer with Real in the 2007-08 season and scored 64 goals in a total of 97 games.

Ben Hibbs (United Staff) is saying it too

Edit - RM just confirmed on their site:

Real Madrid CF and Hamburg SV have reached agreement for the transfer of Ruud van Nistelrooy to the German club.
