Portsmouth fail to get winding-up order struck off as judge backs taxman

Portsmouth have been dealt another severe financial blow after their application to have a winding-up petition from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs struck out was dismissed by a High Court judge today.

The club has argued that the VAT portion of its massive tax bill is too high by £7.5m, but its representatives failed to convince Mr Justice Newey of this today.

we can breathe a bit easier now.

During the Blackburn Rovers fixture on Sunday 17 January, Clint Dempsey sustained moderate damage to a ligament in his right knee. Following the results of a scan, early indications are positive in that no operation is required. At this stage it is thought that the injury will not prevent him from featuring for Fulham, prior to the end of the season.

Whilst obviously disappointed, Clint is focused on his rehabilitation and will work hard, in line with medical advice, to return at the soonest opportunity.

The bad thing, of course, is there's no real timeline as to how long he'll be out. "Prior to the end of the season" could mean the middle of March, it could mean next week (hahahahaha yeah right), or it could be the last game of the season he comes in as a sub for 5 minutes. So that's kinda frustrating, but at least they're hopeful he'll be back! :)

Manel sings to Guardiola

In the midst of talk over his contract renewal, Pep Guardiola attended a concert of one of his favourite groups "Manel" with his long term partner and children. He expected to enjoy the show like any other spectator in the audience but he was surprised with a "trap" that was set up by members of the band and a few members of the crowd.

While on the subject of renewal, the group and some spectators improvised part of a song on stage where Pep and Barca were their 'victims'.  They sang about the Champions League and his final at the Bernabeu and also requested that Guardiola continues "singing" in the Barca bench.

Can you invent a small song like they?

As many of you know, I am one of the few guys here on ontd_football. That being said, I am madly in love with Caroline Wozniacki, the Danish tennis player. Being that the Australian Open just started, I thought this would be an appropriate post. I love her, but today my love for her multiplied by 1000000000000, when I found this:

Caroline Wozniacki gets early Christmas present from Fernando Torres

Tennis beauty Caroline Wozniacki has received an early Christmas present - a Liverpool jersey with Fernando Torres autograph on.

The 19-year-old is a big fan of the Spaniard as she announced on Twitter, and her favorite player was kind enough to send her an autographed shirt - with the words: "To Caroline, with best wishes".

"I just got a Liverpool jersey with Fernando Torres autograph on, specially signed for me!!! I'm so happy. Torres is my favorite player!!!!!!" she wrote on her Twitter account.

Surely Caroline's heart will be "red" forever.

That is all. Thank you for your time.

EDIT: She's number 4 in the world right now. I promise, I'm not just posting about some random tennis chica.
