African Cup Kicks Off!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

DAY 1 - The CAF Africa Cup of Nations kicked off in the most dramatic fashion as Mali came back from four goals behind in the final quarter of an hour to share the spoils with hosts Angola in Sunday’s opening game. It was a remarkable first-ever match at the brand new, and imposing, November 11 Stadium in Luanda, and the hosts looked to be on their way to an emphatic start to the 2010 finals in front of 50,000 cheering supporters. But with their collapse at the end, the match fell one goal short of the Nations Cup record of nine goals in a single match set in 1963 when Egypt beat Nigeria 6-3 in Kumasi, Ghana.

4-4 Mali

Goal of the day
Angola 4-3 Mali (Frederic Kanoute 87')
