berbatov wins the best "bulge-area" award

Berbatov was voted Bulgaria's Man of the Year on Thursday, in an annual competition organised by the national Darik radio.

That's right, not footballer of the year, Man of the Year. This is a competition that has been won by former Bulgarian presidents.

No captions, because too much time was spent on figuring out a Bulgarian website. And because of other time consuming reasons...

Arshavin: Arsenal 'not very good'

Arsenal forward Andrei Arshavin has blamed the Gunners’ inability to overcome their title-rivals this season on the lack of height and strength in Arsene Wenger’s squad, following defeats to Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City this season.

The Russian, who arrived at the Emirates last January for a reported £15 million, is also concerned that the Londoners have lacked the cutting edge required to see off the top sides.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 28-year-old said: "The fact that we have lost against our direct rivals this season signifies that we are not very good."
“We are not good on set-pieces because we don't have many tall players - every other team has an advantage over us in this area.

"They were much stronger than us when it came to physical power. Had we possessed a tall player then things would have been better for us”
"We had nobody capable of holding on to the ball. We played good football against all these top teams but that is not enough.”
The Gunners have suffered back-to-back 3-0 losses against sides currently in the Premier League’s top five – at home to table-topping Chelsea in the Premier League last Sunday, and at fifth placed Manchester City in the League Cup on Wednesday.
Earlier in the campaign the Gunners also suffered back-to-back league defeats away to Manchester United and Manchester City, but Arshavin has confirmed the squad are fully behind their manager.
"What we can change, only Arsene Wenger knows. He has been at the club for 13 years and knows the problems better than anyone. All the Arsenal players believe in him - and if he leaves they will all leave," the Russian added.
However Arshavin did hint that he felt Wenger should bring in another striker in the January transfer window, saying:

"It would be good if the club could sign some great players. It is up to the manager to decide whether he will sign a new striker in January. I have my own ideas but I won't say what they are.”

Though I understand his concerns, he should try to stay out of the media frenzy.
Why do these players always become such drama llamas?!
Also 'blames it on lack of height'... LOLshavin.

Paul Scholes disappointed by Manchester United form

• Scholes to consider retiring at end of season
• United midfielder lavishes praise on Giggs

Paul Scholes has admitted he is frustrated by his performances for Manchester United this season and that he is considering his future in the game.

Scholes celebrated his 35th birthday last month and remains one of the players Sir Alex Ferguson wants to set an example to the younger members of his squad.

But the nine-times Premier League champion is unhappy with the standards he has reached this season. "I wouldn't say I am playing some of my best football," he said. "I don't always feel I am making as much of a contribution as I'd like to. I always preferred it when I was playing regularly and scoring a lot more goals. Now, it's different.

"I play once every two or three weeks and I can only hope to do well when I get the chance. I don't have a choice. Obviously, every player wants to play every week but I know now it can't always happen. I just have to be okay with that." Scholes admits that has thought about bringing an end to his 15-year playing career. "You do think about it. I'm not too sure. I'll just carry on with the way it it's going at the moment and we'll see what happens come the end of the season."

While harbouring concerns about his own longevity, Scholes was full of praise for his long-term team-mate Ryan Giggs, who at the age of 36 has been named among the 10 candidates to become Sports Personality of the Year.

"When Ryan retires he won't just be regarded as one of the greats – he'll be the one and only," said Scholes. "To be here 20 years and still going strong and playing as well as ever, I think that, when he retires, he will be the one who stands out."

"The secret of Ryan's success is his sheer professionalism. He has been a top player for nearly 20 years. I would have thought he's probably the best player this club has ever had. He just keeps going stronger and stronger. Each time he plays he seems to create a goal or score one himself. He has just been fantastic to play with."

With only one substitute appearance to look back on in four matches since the last international break, Scholes will hope to face West Ham at Upton Park tomorrow.

"West Ham is a tough place to go but on our last couple of visits there we have done well," he said. "It is vital we go on a long run, now. Chelsea are five points clear and we need something similar to last season's long, unbeaten run to try to put some pressure on them. Chelsea do look a strong outfit, as they proved at Arsenal last week, and they do look a bit more determined than they have in recent seasons.

"But the belief is always there at Manchester United. We think we can win every game. It doesn't always happen, but we know we need to go on a run now and hope they slip up."

i dont want to even think about him or giggs/nev retiring :(
but do you guys agree (even non-utd fans) that giggs will be regarded as our greatest player ever? or will George Best/Bobby Charlton/Denis Law still hold the title?

ps. we need a scholes tag.
