Barcelona to Face Sevilla in Copa del Rey

Barcelona were handed arguably the toughest possible route to retaining their Copa del Rey title after being paired against 2007 winners Sevilla for the last 16 before then potentially meeting 2008 winners Valencia in the quarter-finals.
Another mouthwatering tie for the last 16 saw Valencia drawn against Deportivo La Coruna, two clubs that have also enjoyed flying starts to the season. And it will be the winner of that two-legged tie who will face either Barca or Sevilla in the quarter-finals.

FIFA DECIDES HENRY'S FATE

tomorrow, FIFA will conduct a meeting to decide upon the punishment for Thierry Henry over his controversial handball that ended Irish World Cup qualifiction hopes. Sepp Blatter revealed that sanctions may be placed on the French footballer but did not reveal if Henry would be banned.

The incident caused much uproar and Henry even revealed that his wife and daughter were facing threats from angered fans in london.

Blatter -"There is a lack of discipline and respect in the game by the players because they are cheating by playing with the hand, pulling shirts and diving. We have to fight against that.

"One billion people are indirectly involved in our game. Those that have the highest responsibility are those exposed by the television cameras but also because they take the highest amount of money. They must have a responsibility. This is the appeal I will make to the executive committee, otherwise I will do it alone.

"We have to take responsibility to make sure Fifa's World Cup in Africa will be played according to the rules of the game and the sprit of fair play. We have six months to show to the world that we have changed because of what has happened in the last [qualifying] matches of the World Cup. If we are not able to do so, we will put our papers under the desk and go home. We must do it."

At a meeting in Zurich, last week, many other things were discussed.

"A lot was discussed at the meeting and at one stage the FAI asked if Ireland could be accommodated into the World Cup 2010. Other suggestions were also made to mitigate against further occurrences of such incidents, including the use of additional goalline assistant referees for Fifa international matches, further use of video technology for matches at the highest level, stronger provisions to discourage players from engaging in such blatant breaches of the laws of the game and provisions to strengthen referee selection for such important matches."

YAYA TOURE WANTS TO MOVE TO THE EPL

This comes after the el clasico match where Toure was left on the bench for two thirds of the game. The 26 year old has also failed to command a regular spot in the starting XI.

Toure's agent, Dimitri Seluk- "We are not happy with this obviously. He is not playing. It is very strange not to be having minutes. If a team like Chelsea or Manchester United would come to us, we are obviously open to talking without any kind of problem.

"Yaya won't just sit and wait. He is 26 years old and is nominated for the Golden Ball award. It is ridiculous for a player like this not to be playing. I don't know what will happen, but I can say once thing for sure: my player won't be remaining on the bench. This is 100 per cent for sure.

"It would be a mistake for Barca to let him go. For instance, when Liverpool sold Xabi Alonso, Liverpool went downhill. That's the same situation here. Yaya is a key player in organising the midfield and in attacking."
