Argentina coach Diego Maradona banned for two months by Fifa

Just when Argentina thought it was safe finally to prepare for the World Cup, their coach, Diego Maradona, was banned from football for two months last night. An often surreal, intensely controversial and deeply troubling year will draw to a close with no manager on the bench and a shadow hanging over the troubled national team who were defeated 2-1 here on Saturday by Spain.

Let's just pretend she considers herself as a WAG. Because she literally is. FACT.

Cheryl takes crown as top earning WAG

X FACTOR judge Cheryl Cole has overthrown Victoria Beckham as Britain’s top earning WAG by raking in a whopping £6.9million.

The 26-year-old has earned millions from TV sponsorship deals, her time with band Girls Aloud and solo music career over the past two years.

Meanwhile, Victoria's reign has begun to fade as it emerged she earned £6.75m from her Spice Girls reunion and fashion label.

A source said: “It was only a matter of time before someone replaced Victoria Beckham as number one WAG.

"Cheryl has her finger in so many pies with her L'Oreal ads, X Factor reign and of course, Girls Aloud, that she has become unstoppable. ”

But Victoria, who is married to to footballer David Beckham, still remains the wealthiest WAG overall with a personal fortune of £45m.

Cheryl is now the second wealthiest WAG – above Coleen Rooney, 23, worth £8million.

Frank Lampard’s ex, model Elen Rives, 34, is fourth with £3.5million while Peter Crouch’s model girlfriend Abbey Clancy, 23, is fifth with £2million.

Update

For those of you who care, an update on Robin van Persie's situation. He was just on the phone with a Dutch footie talkshow.

They now say he'll be out for only 4 to 6 weeks, instead of the 3 months they'd initially said!
The outside ligaments of his ankle are damaged.
He'll have another scan tomorrow.

OH AND IT IS LITTLE SHAQUEEL'S BIRTHDAY TOMORROW.

Side note, I just loves how he flails his arms about just like his daddy ♥

Official FIFA World Cup 2010 song?!

Wavin' Flag
by K'naan
to be FIFA World Cup 2010 theme song

Somalian-born, Canadian-based hip-hop artist K'Naan has spoken about the "unity and celebration" that will connect with his song "Wavin' Flag," after it was chosen as the official anthem of Coca-Cola's 2010 FIFA World Cup program.

K'Naan has specially recorded a version of the song for the tournament, hosted by South Africa. The remix of "Wavin' Flag" is part of Coca-Cola's global integrated marketing campaign "inspired by the joyous dance celebrations familiar to Africa."

The track will be used as the music element throughout the entire campaign, including as the soundtrack for all television commercials, during the trophy tour, and will also be featured on the online digital platform, Coca-Cola said in a press conference two months ago in Zurich, Switzerland.

"Wavin Flag: The Celebration Mix" is a recast version of a track off K'Naan's set "Troubadour" (Universal Music, 2009). It features many elements of the original song but includes a pre-chorus that sets the uplifting, unified tone of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, turning the song into one that is "more open, more inviting, more celebratory", the artist says.

"I'm so proud of this version," K'Naan tells Billboard.Biz. "We took something like 50 drums and did this crazy mix for it. It's about the one time that we all get together and the world forgets its conflict and its problems and we focus on this unity and celebration. That moment is connected now to 'Wavin' Flag.'"
