Karim Benzema Outburst Causes Real Madrid Rift

Oct. 6th, 2009

Karim Benzema has stunned Real Madrid by stating that he does not want to play up front with Raul and is furious about being constantly substituted during matches, according to a report in Sport.

The moody French striker raged at coach Manuel Pellegrini after the defeat in Sevilla, when he was again withdrawn, because he was assured that he would not be rotated.

The report states that Benzema's attitude has not gone down well at the Santiago Bernabeu and that his outburst may have more serious repercussions within the squad.

The €35 million signing reportedly believes that playing up front with Raul is hampering him because he thinks that the Madrid captain is not mobile enough and that they cross over each other.

Pellegrini chose to listen to the forward's outburst, remaining silent as the Frenchman fumed that it is his right to play whole games after being brought in for such a large fee from Olympique Lyonnais.

The outburst by the player and the coach's inability to react shows that Pellegrini has less influence than he would like at the club.

In the summer the Chilean coach wanted to keep Alvaro Negredo and use the €35m that was spent on Benzema to keep Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben.

President Florentino Perez wanted a big name up front, and the move for Benzema was made, but that could be about to backfire as the first signs of his temperament are showing.

Pellegrini supposedly felt that Benzema was not mature enough for a move to Real Madrid.

Maradona ponders Argentina future

Diego Maradona could quit as Argentina coach next week, unless certain terms are met.

La Albiceleste are poised to play their final two 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifiers against Peru and Uruguay, with their place at the global finals very much in the balance.

However, Maradona has revealed he is thinking of resigning from his post even if Argentina qualify, and will meet with Argentinian Football Association (AFA) president Julio Grondona to discuss matters.

"When Grondona called me to his house and offered me the job, I told him I was the happiest person in the world," said Maradona.

"But after that things happened that I didn't like, and I will speak about them later. If I continue it will be under my conditions. After the qualifiers I will talk to Julio."

Maradona, who has been in the post less than a year, did not specify what conditions he would lay down, but it is thought his chief gripe is with technical director Carlos Bilardo.

The pair reportedly do not get on and barely speak to each other, with Maradona unhappy at the former Argentina coach's interference in team affairs.

Argentina go into Saturday's qualifier in Buenos Aires on a run of four defeats in their last five games, and currently lie in the play-off position in the South American Zone.

He has been nothing but a menace. A great player doesn't necessarily make a good manager, he proved that to us. I cannot believe Argentina is in a risk of not making it into the WC2010. Are you kidding me? WC without a team like Argentina is like... not having the bread for peanut butter and jelly sandwich. THAT IS NOT A SANDWICH.

I hope he really leaves.

  • Have you ever had a question you were just itching for Philipp Lahm to answer, such as what are his feelings on rabbits, or why he prefers playing on the right, or what are his current plans in world domination? UEFA has decided to fufil our needs and will be asking him your user submitted questions on October 21, 2009 when FC Bayern faces Bordeaux (as he is in the midst of constructing the deus ex machina). Details/contact information are available here.
  • And for those who are following the Bundesliga, Lahm has provided new insight as to how Bayern should fix their problems, as he calls for new signings and the 'addition of two or three more players.' Not that they didn't sign eight during the summer. For those interested, Lahm talks about walking away from a move to Barcelona here.

ceski redknapps are so ceski

'Jamie will watch Sky Sports and I’ll sit in the bedroom,
sulking because I never get to watch my programmes on the big telly.’

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,

Footballers and their wives are renowned for their rock and roll lifestyles - travelling by private jet, buying all the latest designer gear and having umpteen nannies on hand to bring up the children.

But not Jamie and Louise Redknapp. The former footballer turned pundit and his lingerie model wife are the anti-Posh and Becks, the couple everyone wants to be.

'We’re really not smug,'
Louise tells Red magazine.

We go through all the things that people go through in life. We scream at each other sometimes, we have days when we can’t cope with our kids.’

Despite being better-off than the average person, the Redknapps know how to appreciate what they have.

‘Yes, we’re lucky that life has given us lovely choices,' says Jamie.

'You know, we can go for a nice meal at Nobu in London…’

Louise chimes in: ‘But tonight, we’ll get the kids to bed, Jamie will watch Sky Sports and I’ll sit in the bedroom, sulking because I never get to watch my programmes on the big telly.’

Manchester United Plot Move for £14m Celtic Keeper Boruc

One problem for Ferguson is that yesterday’s puzzling takeover of Portsmouth by a man rich enough to be able to buy a much better club than Portsmouth may complicate Ferguson’s cunning plan to sign David James in January. So now he’s plotting a move for either Celtic’s Artur Boruc or Newcastle’s Tum Krul, who’s also a target for Juventus. (Guardian)

For some time now I have been singing the praises of Celtic’s Polish stopper as the best player around to take Edwin’s gloves when he hangs them up and this source seems to suggest that Boruc is uppermost in Sir Alex’s plans.

Any move for the Parkhead keeper will be expensive but then I firmly believe that a top notch goalie is worth splashing out on and the £14m, or thereabouts, needed to wrench him from Glasgow will be more than worth it.

There are few keepers in Europe with Artur’s dominance and he is the type of player who breeds confidence in his back four and after four years in Scotland he may well be ready to take that step up to Old Trafford.

caught offside

Of all people been linked to replace Edwin! i LOVE this guy but this is complete and utter poo so it's laughable xD

Real Madrid VS. Barcelona--TODAY? wtf?

This is a bit weird, but anyone who has direct TV, it says that Real Madrid is playing Barcelona TODAY at TEN PM(my time of course).
I thought they were playing against each other...FOUR days from now? Yanno, el Clasico.
Is it FOR REALZ or is direct TV just being stupid?
This was my face when I saw it:

AND to make this post worth a post:
ooooh, baby...BRING ON THE PICTURES.
