Damien Duff signs for Fulham

Fulham Football Club is delighted to announce that Damien Duff becomes the Club's third signing of the summer having put pen to paper today on a three-year deal, for an undisclosed fee, which will see the player at the Club until the summer of 2012.

The 30-year-old midfielder joins the Club from Newcastle United where he signed in July 2006.

He made his debut for Blackburn Rovers against Leicester City on the final day of the 1996-97 season at the age of just 18. Duff helped Blackburn regain promotion back to the Premier League in 2000 when the side was relegated a year earlier and he helped Rovers to League Cup victory in 2002 when the team beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the final.

Duff went on to make 185 appearances for Blackburn and his impressive form earned him a £17m move to Chelsea in 2003 which was a club record at the time. He made his international debut for Republic of Ireland in 1998 and has made 75 appearances for his country.

Speaking from Fulham's Motspur Park training ground, Damien Duff said:

"I am happy that my move to Fulham has been completed and look forward to joining in with the rest of the squad’s training programme immediately, in preparation for two important home matches this week. Fulham had a fantastic season last year and I know that having spoken to the manager in recent days that the Club's ambitions remain high and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead."

Roy Hodgson added:

"I am delighted to add a player of Damien Duff's calibre to our squad, and welcome the further midfield options he provides us with. I have known Damien for over a decade since he broke into the first team at Blackburn when I was Manager, so I’m fully aware of his qualities and I am looking forward to working with him again. "

An awesome signing, he's got tons of experience which'll really help out with the Europa League. Plus midfield depth will help out a lot with balancing the Premier League and Europe, so YAY. :D

Mods, can Fulham have a tag please? :)

Chelsea Sign Nemanja Matic

New signing for the Blues!

Following on from our report last week it has now been confirmed that Chelsea have completed the signing of young Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic from MFK Kosice for £1.75 million.

Matic claimed over the weekend that he had put pen to paper on a 4 year deal and now MFK Kosice have confirmed the transfer. After three seasons playing in Slovakia the 6′4″ Serb will now test himself in the Premier League.

He was part of the Serbia U21 squad that competed at this summer’s European U21 Championship, while he has also won two caps for his country’s senior side.

Chelsea have beaten Spurs, Genoa and CSKA Moscow for his signature. We look forward to seeing him at the Bridge sometime soon!

Sway is not a fucking footballer, he's just gonna rap with one.

Guess who???

And what about rumours of working with Liverpool player Ryan Babel?

There's a lot of truth in that. He's actually on the song with me and Neutrino. That was something I wanted to keep in the bag for a minute but obviously you just revealed it. Somebody's on my Twitter. Yeah, Ryan Babel's a good mate of mine. He's a nice guy, he's a sick rapper. The way he flips his flow is marvellous man, so I wanted him to do a bit - half Dutch, half British, and he really pulled it off man. I think it's a track that people are gonna like.

Obviously Rafa Benitez is happy with him doing it and it's gonna be on the album. Are you going to release it?

He's his own man, he wanted to do the track so we got together and made it happen. We linked up in New York as well. He's a nice guy and I have a lot of fun with him.

You can never have a season at Liverpool without mentioning Hicks & Gillett

Rafael Benítez options limited in search for defensive reinforcements

Rafael Benítez, the Liverpool manager, will step up his pursuit of much-needed central-defensive reinforcements in the coming days, armed with a budget of no more than £2 million.

Despite having recouped at least as much as he has spent in the transfer market this summer, Benítez has been told that there are no significant funds available to supplement his first-team squad and is scouring the bargain basement for a potential recruit.

Same old same old with Hicks and Gillett; trying to make as much money out of us without contributing any themselves. Sigh

Seeking Guidance...?

 Hello :)
so I really hope this is allowed, but if not, just delete this.
in any case, I recently moved to the US but now I can't find where to watch football (read: premier league)!!!!! so I was wondering if any of you could point to websites that provide live streaming of football matches, or at least the full game after it's over?? (free is nice, but if that's not possible, that's okay too.)
so yes, any help would be greatly greatly appreciated. & I don't have cable, thus no ESPN either.
Thanks in advance!
& sorry for the boring black&white entry D:

Riera to Barcelona? :)

Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are monitoring Liverpool winger Albert Riera after he was dropped for the Reds’ opening weekend defeat at Spurs.

The Spain left-sider was left perplexed and annoyed by Rafa Benitez’ decision to leave him out of the squad when he wanted to open the new campaign with a bang.

Liverpool’s pre-match suggestion that Riera was not fit was news to the 27-year-old former Espanyol man, who could not understand why he had been left out to accommodate Ryan Babel in the starting line-up.

Babel’s anonymous display only reinforced that view and has alerted Spain’s big two as well as Atletico Madrid, seeking to bolster their squad for the Champions League campaign.

Riera’s admission on international duty last week, that “I would like to come back to Spain at some point” was noted by all three clubs after the player went to see Benitez to try to discover his anticipated role in the Liverpool side.

The Spanish sides have been made aware that Riera, who cost £8million on deadline day last term and scored five goals in 40 appearances for the Anfield outfit, could be available before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Riera believes he should be a regular starter, rather than just part of Benitez’s rotation policy, especially in World Cup year when he is looking to cement his place in Vicente Del Bosque’s squad for South Africa.

And if Liverpool are willing to listen to offers, the winger may be willing to leave English football for a second time after his six months on loan at Manchester City was not extended in 2006.

A source said he and Daria - better known as Dasha - 28, are 'ecstatic and excited' at the prospect of becoming parents.

A source told The Daily Mirror: 'They have been dying to tell people the good news but wanted to make sure everything was OK.'

As yet, the couple do not know the sex of the baby, which, friends say, will be born in Moscow and will be brought up a Chelsea fan.

Chelsea playmaker Deco lined up to be a Vietnam veteran with Van Nistelrooy and Guti

Deco will quit Chelsea for Vietnam after next summer's World Cup, according to the president of V-League 'giants' TT Ha Noi.

Do Quang Hien says he has already spoken to Chelsea and expects the transfer to be the start of a relationship between the two clubs.

Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho wanted to sign the 31-year-old this summer but failed to agree a fee.

TT Ha Noi have also been linked with moves for former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy and Spain midfielder Guti - both of Real Madrid.

But some Asian commentators have dismissed the transfer pursuits as a publicity stunt.

Brazilian veteran Denilson, one the most expensive player in the world, joined Hai Phong Cement in June, but played just once before returning home injured, £15,000 better off.

Congrats to the big boss. And lay off Guti, other big boss of Vietnamese team!

FORMER Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has announced his desire to retire at the end of the 2009/10 season.

The veteran shot stopper turns 40-years-old in November and announced today on German television: “…after this season it's finished for me, I've had enough, it'll be time to try something else.”

Earlier this year Lehmann expressed his concerns: "It is very difficult (to be on the bench), very hard, particularly when I see the performances on the pitch. Sometimes you have to accept it - even after I played a couple of games and was dropped again."

Rumours circulated that the 39-year-old would move to Borussia Dortmund last January, but the played opted out of a transfer.

Ultimately he has chosen to end his days as a professional footballer with his current club, honouring his original two year contract with Stuttgart.

Nicolas Anelka’s autobiography shocks the literary world

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Nicolas Anelka has the football world on tenter hooks with the imminent release of his audacious autobiography ‘It’s not me. It’s everyone else.’ Which critics are are already labelling ’shocking’ and ‘compelling.’

The book, which details Anelka’s rise from Parisian street urchin to World Cup winner certainly pulls no punches, firing broadsides at former team mates from Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City, Paris St German, Liverpool and Galatasary.

“I wasn’t accepted anywhere I went.” Says Anelka with heart breaking honesty.

In it Anelka exposes the bullying tactics employed by multi national clubs world wide and holds a mirror to the ugly face of football. Some critics have even labelled it the sports equivilent to Nelson Mandela’s ‘Long Walk to Freedom.’
