rip luis - 2

That's actually Sergio Asenjo -- a young, FEROCIOUS and a highly rated Spanish keeper who is poised to become the "next Iker Casillas". He previously played for Valladolid and was just signed by Atletico Madrid for £5.5m and the loan of their striker Diego Costa.

But let's see, in order for him to replace San Iker, he'll have to achieve god-like status, have a tshirt made after him, destroy our ovaries by doing charitable things, have epic glove tans, make our hearts stop by simply eating an apple, etc etc etc. Is this guy next to take the place of our favourite #1 ballstopper? Ummmm maybe. But skill-wise, he's practically there! The two have met and Asenjo worships considers Iker as one of his all-time idols.

Top European clubs such as Manchester United and Barcelona have been eying Spain's U21 keeper, but instead he has moved to Spain's capital city, bringing him closer to his role-model and perhaps closer to mimicking his career.

With the exit of Leo Franco and Gregory Coupet, Asenjo will tackle the role of being Atletico's first-choice keeper, after just peacing out of his teenage years! Meanwhile, I can't even find a job folding clothes and pressing buttons at a cash register.

So watch out for this guy because he's gonna be Spain's next big thing after Iker retires. And after his hair thins out. Even more. Yeah I went there.

(We also had a brief Facebook stint but he deleted me shortly after accepting my request lol jerk)

Vid of his Atletico Madrid presentation and his ill skillz

Manchester United Boss Sir Alex Ferguson: Transfer Market Is 'Ridiculous'

The Red Devils' boss is amazed as everyone else at some of the fees being thrown around this season...

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has labelled the current transfer market as "ridiculous".

In a summer where mega money deals have been the norm, United have been somewhat subdued, with Antonio Valencia, Gabriel Obertan and Michael Owen brought in to fill the void left by the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez.

Speaking at the press conference to unveil the three new signings, Ferguson said, "I said a year ago, when they [the Abu Dhabi United Group] took over at [Manchester] City, that this was possible."

"Some of the values across the world now are amazing; the numbers that get tossed about. The values of players have shot sky high. I don't think any of the [big] transfers this summer are realistic but for some reason it has caught fire this summer.

"It's an unusual summer and it's very difficult to get value because of that."

Ferguson used the example of United's pursuit of Karim Benzema as proof, continuing, "I can only placate the fans in one way and that's by not being stupid.

"We have that wonderful sum of money from Real Madrid but there's no way we are going to throw it away by putting an extra zero on the end of transfer fees when I didn't think it was value. We went in for Benzema but, as far as we were concerned, the price tag was beyond his value.

"If other clubs want to go to that level, that's entirely their business. We had a value that we thought was fair and we didn't want to go above that position.

"Maybe Lyon thought we under-valued him and that's fine, it's their decision. They got €42 million for him and they will be happy with that because they have done well.

"All this tells you about us is that we are sensible."

Is SAF being a stereotypical Scot and refusing to put his hand in his wallet, or is he right? Do you think Man Utd's lack of signings will put them at a serious disadvantage next season, or will it be business as usual? Is getting rid of Tevez and Ronaldo and bringing in Owen and Valencia really an adequate subsitute?

Carlos Tevez presented by Manchester........City

When Carlito Tevez was sixteen, he started his career in Argentina where he played for Boca Juniors
In 2004 he made a £13.7m move to Corinthians, the biggest South American transfer at that time

playing in South America was fun and all...

but England was calling, and he and his bff Mascherano were signed by West Ham at £12m each

After saving the Hammers from relegation, Man United signed him on a two-year loan deal in 2007
Fans loved him there and he won lots of stuff with his frenchie boyfriend Evra

But then, in the summer of 2009, he signed with Man City where he'll be earning £150k a week.

Nice hairband Carlitos. All that £££ and you still need your abuelita to crochet your hair accessories :P

Adebayor on verge of signing for Man City

Manchester City are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Emmanuel Adebayor from Arsenal, the Guardian understands. The two clubs have agreed a fee, believed to be closer to Arsenal's asking price of £25m than City's original offer of £20m, and the striker is in Manchester discussing terms on a five-year contract worth between £150,000-170,000 a week.

Adebayor, who would become the ninth striker on City's books, was identified as a realistic target last week, leading the club to end their interest in Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o. Talks with the Togolese have moved rapidly over the last few days, and though the striker was initially keen on a move to Serie A, it is believed the scale of the salary persuaded him to move north.

City hope the 25-year-old will now be able to take some part in their pre-season tour to South Africa, with Mark Hughes's squad due to fly out tomorrow. Carlos Tevez will be on board after the club confirmed his arrival on a five-year contract.

"Carlos is an international player of the highest class who possesses all the attributes that will help drive this club forward," Mark Hughes, the City manager, said. "He is not only outstanding technically but he is a reliable goalscorer and someone who will contribute fully to the team ethic. He gives us another exciting, attacking dimension. I cannot wait to welcome him to City."

Wtf do City need 9 strikers for?
mikkel [bang bang me]

i herd u lyk mls?

Your life is not complete until you've heard Sacha yell "hey fuck you, bitch". Seriously.

Full HD video of the Columbus Crew meeting President Obama. This doesn't really fall under the lolworthy category but you can see Robbie Rogers giggling and whispering to someone off-screen in the background and Ale and Danny squinting in the sun (while Danny looks particularly dashing with the beard/suit combo). Also idk why no one laughed at the joke about bringing snacks, I did.

Um...I'm not sure exactly what this is, I could only get through about 30 seconds of it. It's supposedly (anyone have confirmation?) Nate Jaqua and Fredy Montero rapping about the Sounders. IDEK.

The First XI for the MLS All-Star Game against Everton FC on July 29th has been released. It includes:
Goalkeeper: Kasey Keller (Seattle Sounders FC)*
Defenders: Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo)*, Wilman Conde (Chicago Fire)*, Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew)*
Midfielders: Dwayne De Rosario (Toronto FC), Stuart Holden (Houston Dynamo)*, Shalrie Joseph (New England Revolution) Freddie Ljungberg (Seattle Sounders FC)*, Guillermo Barros Schelotto (Columbus Crew)
Forwards: Conor Casey (Colorado Rapids)*, Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy)
* Denotes first selection to the MLS All-Star Team

Online fan balloting comprising 25 percent of the combined First XI vote, with MLS coaches and GMs (25 percent), media (25 percent), and players (25 percent) accounting for the remainder. Players and coaches/general managers could not register votes for players on their own teams.

So DeRo can't make it to the ASG because TFC has a CONCACAF Champions League game the same day. He was replaced by none other than (almost) everyone's (least) favorite, Cuahoweverthefuckyouspelliticouldcarelessmoc Blanco. He had the next highest votes percentage. Idk. There will also be coaches picks (Dominic Kinnear of Houston will be the coach since the Dynamo have the best record) and Commissioners picks, and those should be made in the next couple of days.

Oh, and The Beckham Experiment was released today. Anyone got theirs already? Mine's on its way from Amazon.com, along with Bloody Confused.
