Chelsea reject £30 mill Man City Terry bid
Terry reiterated his commitment to Chelsea after a bid from Man City in 2008
Chelsea have confirmed they have "completely rejected" an offer from Manchester City for their club captain and England skipper John Terry.
City also had an approach for the 28-year-old turned down in late 2008.
"It was made clear, for the second time, that we would not entertain any conversation on the subject," read a statement on Chelsea's website.
The size of City's offer for Terry, who is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2012, was not revealed.
"We would like to make it clear, and we will not do so again, that John is not for sale," added the club statement.
Terry has played 405 games in 12 years at Stamford Bridge, scoring 35 goals in the process, with chief executive Peter Kenyon describing him as "part of the heart and soul of Chelsea" when City last made a bid.
A product of Chelsea's youth academy, Terry has captained the club to two Premier League titles, two FA Cup successes and two League Cup wins.
But success on the European stage has so far eluded Terry, although he came within a successful penalty of lifting the Champions League trophy against Manchester United in 2008. :)
England striker Jermain Defoe was struck by a double tragedy when the grandmother of his half-brother dropped dead at his funeral.
Spurs player Defoe and his family watched in horror as Rebecca Carr collapsed as she was getting into a mourners car.
The group had been about to follow a horse-drawn carriage carrying the body of Jade Defoe, 26, who died in April after being beaten up in East London.
They frantically tried to revive the 64-year-old in the street before paramedics arrived to take over. She was taken to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
Her family said she had been distraught at the prospect of the grandson she doted on being buried.
Jade's mother Judy Cobham told The Sun: 'It has just been horrific. I buried my son and watched my mother die on the same day. Jermain was by the car.
'We are all in shock. We are all as a family still trying to come to terms with him being murdered and now have to bear the loss of his doting grandmother.'
Her own mother had been 'heartbroken' at Jade's death, she added. 'She couldn't bear to see him buried and in the end she didn't.'
The funeral last Friday had to be delayed for almost an hour while mourners waited for news and Jade was buried later, with Jermain acting as one of the pallbearers.
The two men shared the same father, Jimmy, but the footballer is no relation to Miss Carr.
Jade - a rapper - was ambushed and beaten up in Leytonstone, east London, in April. He suffered serious head injuries and fell into a coma.
Jermain had joined other relatives on a bedside vigil but he died several days later.
Christopher Farley, 33, from Leytonstone, has been charged with his murder. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey in August.

This month's FourFourTwo came with a pull-out debating the 20 greatest managers in British football.
I figured it was pretty interesting so... here's the Top 10! (Because I'm a lazy arse and can't be bothered to type out all the stuff...)
Ok, feel free to argue about this amongst yourselves. I'm going to give FourFourTwo a call and ask where Mark Stimson is.
Sort-of-sauce as the article isn't actually on the website...
Alvaro got married earlier today to his girlfriend Carlota in the church
The article is in Spanish so I’m sorry for those that don’t understand it but I couldn’t find it in English. It basically just talks about where and when the ceremony took place, who attended, and Alvaro’s football career.

Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has signed Michael Owen on a two year contract. The striker was out of contract, so no transfer fee is involved.
Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Michael is a world class forward with a proven goalscoring record at the highest level and that has never been in question. Coming to Manchester United with the expectations that we have is something that Michael will relish”
Michael Owen said: "I had just begun to talk to other Clubs when out of the blue Sir Alex phoned me on Wednesday afternoon, invited me to have breakfast with him next morning during which he told me that he wanted to sign me. I agreed without a moment's thought.
This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I intend to seize it with both hands.
I am now looking forward to being a Manchester United player and I am fortunate that I already know so many of the players here. I missed pre season last year and am pleased that I will be starting at Carrington from day one.
I want to thank Sir Alex for the faith he has shown in me and I give him my assurance that I will repay him with my goals and performances”
