The Red Devils are planning an overhaul of their squad this summer following the Champions League defeat to Barcelona...
29 May 2009 09:18:21
Apparently, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has decided his squad needs an overhaul following the comprehensive 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League final.
It is claimed that the Red Devils will not exercise the option to sign Carlos Tevez for £25.5 million unless the fee is lowered to £18m, which means that the Argentina international could end up playing for one of their Premier League rivals next season.
South Korea international midfielder Park Ji-Sung and Portugal international winger Nani could also be heading for the exit doors at Old Trafford.
Wigan Athletic's Ecuador international midfielder Antonio Valencia is said to be a candidate to replace the latter pair, with a £15 million transfer being mooted.
Meanwhile, British tabloid The Daily Express alleges that United will make a move for Lyon's France international striker Karim Benzema, who has also been linked with Chelsea, as a replacement for Tevez.
Goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak, who is a Poland international, is also likely to leave as Ferguson sees Ben Foster as a long-term successor to Edwin van der Sar.
1. Her name is Yulia Korolyova (Юлия Королёва), she lived in Omsk, Russia (that's in Siberia, just a few hours away from where I live, lol)
2. They met at Mallorca in 2001 when he was 19 and she was 23. He saw her at a discoteque and thought she was very beautiful, later they started dating and just in one month they were already living together at Mallorca (she spoke Spanish a bit then)
3. They have a daughter named Alejandra Riera-Korolyova, she was born last october, they plan on teaching her Russian, Spanish and English (a/n: poor child)
4. Yulia is friends with Yolanda and Olalla
The whole family came all the way from Spain
(That'd be 10PM ET and 8PMET, respectively.)
A few roster changes: Robles (off to get married) and Edu (injured) aren't there, Hejduk is out for the Costa Rica game, and

Manuel Pellegrini today described his appointment as the new coach of Real Madrid as a "dream come true".
Pellegrini was confirmed as the replacement for Juande Ramos late last night and the Chilean was officially unveiled in his new post at the Bernabeu today. Pellegrini, who had been in charge of Madrid's Primera Division rivals Villarreal since 2004, said: "It's hard to explain the emotion and pride that I feel for having been chosen to coach the most important club in the world.
"When I started my coaching career 23 years ago, I knew that I would end up at Real Madrid. It's a dream come true. I feel fortunate to have been chosen for this post."
Newly-installed Madrid president Florentino Perez, who yesterday returned to the post he held for six years before resigning in 2006, said: "Pellegrini is an intelligent coach.
"He has had an excellent career, he knows our league and the Champions League, but he also has experience in South American football. He knows the pressures having coached in Argentina. Our dream is to have a spectacular team that the fans can enjoy."
Although he did not win any major silverware at Villarreal, Pellegrini enjoyed plenty of success in South America, winning trophies in Chile, Argentina and Ecuador during spells at River Plate, San Lorenzo, Liga de Quito and Universidad Catolica.
AW he is so happy. He seems like the right man to take the helm, and hopefully he'll be able to do a good job @ madrid.
The England international was given permission to hold talks with City by the Midlands club earlier in the day and his transfer appears to have now taken a major step closer to completion.
Barry was the subject of intense interest from Liverpool last summer, but the deal fell through with the Anfield outfit unwilling to meet Villa's £18million asking price.
City are reported to have agreed a fee of £11million with their Premier League rivals, with Barry's current contract due to expire at the end of next season.
The midfielder had previously stated he was keen to sample UEFA Champions League football, with Villa's top-four challenge this season fading as Martin O'Neill's men eventually finished sixth to secure a Europa League berth.
City will not be playing in Europe next term but Mark Hughes' side have ambitious plans for the future given the financial backing of their owners and have set their sights on challenging the Premier League's leading clubs.
I'm happy with that, a potential replacement for Xabi is going to a different club which can only be good and reduce the chances of Xabi being sold. I'd be furious if i was a Villa fan, what happened to Barry only leaving VIlla to play Champions League football? He's moving to a team who finished further down the table than Villa did, he's going there for the money, fact.
“Real Madrid has a lot of people at work. Decisions are made by consent. Having the experience of a man like Zinedine Zidane is great. It's a privilege to have him here and he will help us a lot.”
Has been said before, but it just makes me so happy :)
“Pellegrini is very good at dealing with changes. We will be able to talk for hours about sporting matters on Tuesday. We will only sign players the coach likes. It wouldn’t be common sense to do otherwise. We are working on building a new team. New men will arrive and others will have to leave. We did it in the past and we’ll do it again. Pellegrini is polite and has firm opinions. His teams have a well-defined style. He is true to his ideals.”
This is I think what we all were hoping for.
”Raul has done nothing but offer solutions to Real Madrid for 15 years. He is the team’s all-time top-scorer and an intelligent man that knows where his place is. I have great admiration for him. He is a true Madridista. He could never be a problem. I’m very fond of him and often talk to him, but the coach will ultimately decide who plays.”
Is this the signal that Pellegrini could bench Raúl? His position in the dressing room has given him an "untouchable" aura, but age is catching up with him. As much as I love and adore him it is time for him to step back gradually.

And last but not least: his press conference. I think every madrista should read it. It took away a lot of my doubts about him, and though we can never be sure, I think he is the right coach for this project. I'd quote the whole damn thing but it's better that I just put the link here and let you see for yourself...
This post took me quite a lot of time and I'm supposed to be doing stuff but I'll just say that this calmed my nerves and that I can do it better now ;)
Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is following in the footsteps of football star-turned-actor Eric Cantona with his first acting role in Stefanie Sycholt’s Themba.
Lehman, who now plays for VfB Stuttgart, has been cast as football talent scout, John Jacobs. The film is currently shooting in South Africa.
Based on the novel of the same name by German-Dutch writer Lutz van Dijk, Sycholt’s film follows eleven year-old Themba (whose name means hope) as he journeys from a poor background to playing for Bafana Bafana, the South African national football team.
The cast is made up of a mix of non-professionals, newcomers and well-known South African actors such as Patrick Mofokeng and Anelisa Phewa and rising singer Simphiwe Dana, with Junior Singo in the lead role as Themba.
The German-South African co-production between Zeitsprung Entertainment and Rheingold Films with DO Productions is shooting in English and the local Xhosa language.
The producers are planning to release Themba internationally next summer to coincide with the World Cup in South Africa.
Former Manchester United and France footballer Cantona has an extended cameo appearance in Ken Loach’s upcoming Looking For Eric, which is due to be released across Europe this summer.
i'll bet jens is quite the diva on set. ahahahahahaaaa.
AC Milan And Real Madrid Agree Kaka Transfer, Says Spanish Radio
A reputable radio station in Madrid has called it a done deal...
2 Jun 2009 19:53:13
Real Madrid have agreed a €65m fee with AC Milan for Kaka, according to Cadena SER radio station. The Brazilian has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants for years, but with former president Florentino Perez once again taking control this week, speculation has reached fever pitch.
Now, sources in Spain report that the conditions have been agreed, and Cadena SER asserts that the €65m price tag is agreed by all parties.
All that remains now are some personal matters to attend to with Kaka, who is set to earn €9m a year (€175,000 a week) for the next five seasons. The 27-year-old is on international duty as Brazil prepare to take on Uruguay this weekend, meaning that he cannot be present to physically sign a deal in Madrid for now.
Anyone know anymore about this?
Today in Málaga there was a charity football match called "Más que un partido" (more than a game). This game included both past and present first division players,
He was subbed on for the Marchenator at the 20th minute and "demonstrated some ~quality passes~"
There are barely any photos from this event but i have enough to prove that he still has epic thighs, despite having a receding hairline :)
So I know you're dying to know who the coaches were
Oh no big deal or anything, just Getafe's current manager Michel and this guy who calls himself BERND SCHUSTER (Pep was on Michel's team)
RUBEN DE LA RED! scored the opening goal!!! He wasn't officially in the squads but Bernd let him do the honors when his team was awarded a penalty. Señor Schuster can sometimes be simpático, but not siempre (say that six times fast)
The game ended in a 3-3 draw

David Silva and Baraja were supposed to be in Michel's squad but were injured, so instead they were there to make the "kick of honour"
That's it. My spanish sucks so here are the sources: 1 2 3 4 5 6
lemme know if I missed something muy importante
TRAFFORD TILL JANUARY 2010.
Hargreaves out until next year
Manchester United's preparations for next season have been dealt an early blow with Owen Hargreaves, the England midfield player, unlikely to be back in action until January. Sir Alex Ferguson, the United manager, had hoped to have Hargreaves playing by the start of the new season in August, but his recovery from two knee operations is taking longer than expected and neither the club nor the player is prepared to rush his return for fear of a setback. The next couple of months are likely to provide more definitive answers, with Hargreaves hopeful of being able to join his team-mates for light training once or twice a week from next month or August before stepping up his rehabilitation programme to include more rigorous training after that. It is doubtful, though, that he will return to action before the new year.

And I just read this on manutd.com:
In transfer speculation, The Daily Mirror claims relegated Middlesbrough are to launch a bid for United club captain Gary Neville, who they feel has the experience to provoke an immediate return to the Premier League. Lets see how far they get with that.
this makes me love PEP and BARCA even more
