For a long time Jamie Redknapp has, erm, held his own as the ladies man of the Sky Sports punditry team. But last night he came up against stiff competition from some younger, fitter competition.

Never one to back down from a fight, Steven Gerrard picked out his tightest trousers and challenged himself to touch two different walls of the studio with his knee-caps simultaneously. Understandably, Alan Smith was eager to cover up!

Good job this wasn’t an MUTV phone-in!

Oh Stevie, never change. So, who won the crotch-off, Stevie or Redders?

Roma Star De Rossi To Be Appointed 'Knight Of Rome'

The Italian international will be recognized with an Italian order of merit...

Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi will be appointed a Cavaliere di Roma on May 25, according to romagiallorossa.com.

The prize is an honour given out as recognition to service to the Italian public and is similar in some ways to being knighted in the United Kingdom.

Giallorossi talisman Francesco Totti has already received the honour earlier in his career and is set to be present and be a part of the ceremony for his team-mate.

The ceremony will also mark the first 'Flag of Football' award given out in honour of late Roma president Franco Sensi. The former club patron passed away this summer, with his daughter now in charge of the club. The prize will recognize those who have represented the history of the team and the winner will be chosen by the Sensi family.

De Rossi was born in Roma and has played his whole career with the club, making over 250 appearances in all competitions.

Casillas Thinks Pepe Disgraced The Real Madrid Shirt

Pepe's sending off has received further condemnation from Iker Casillas, who also looked ahead to the title race...

Iker Casillas revealed his unhappiness with Pepe's behaviour during Real Madrid's win against Getafe on Tuesday evening.

'San Iker' had to push the Portuguese defender away from the melee after he had kicked, stamped and punched his way to a red card and he was not impressed. Television cameras showed Casillas telling Pepe 'you're crazy' before making sure that he walked off the pitch so that the game could continue.

"You cannot do things like he did when you are wearing a Real Madrid shirt," the custodian told reporters afterwards.

Casillas may have been disillusioned with Pepe's antics, but he was pleased with the win and the fact that the players showed what playing for the club is all about.

"We could play better or worse, but Madrid will always have something great; the badge. That always provokes pride in every Madrid fan," he continued. "We will keep going until the end of the season because we are the only team that can do anything against Barcelona. "With all respect to Getafe, we could lose the title against teams like Sevilla, Villarreal or Barcelona, but not against Getafe in the Bernabeu.

"If we do not win in Sevilla then beating Barcelona will not mean anything."

Lucas Brown, Goal.com

Yet again proving why he is Real Madrid's Mr Classy. :) What Pepe did was so totally unexcusable, and I'm glad that someone on the team decided to speak about it. I was pretty pissed at Juande's attempts to justify what Pepe did. There is no justification for something like that. Yay to Iker for saying it's completely not ok.

Para Pipita...

Will Pipita play for the NT?
Collapse )
Thoughts? Opinions?
ETA: The journalists of Líbero (TyC Sports) just said  that Gonzalo doesn't get along/is in a fight with Heinze and Gago. A couple of months ago, Horacio Pagani said that Gago and Pipita haven't been on speaking terms for months. Now, I know Pagani usually brings the lols, but he is a serious journalist. Does anyone know anything about this fight?

A boy and his soap operas.

Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for the Manchester United club, has vowed to watch Britain’s most loved TV sitcom ‘Coronation Street’.

Ronaldo revealed that he did not know what is Coronation Street until he was told that the Brit population is absolutely obsessed with it.

Thus, he has vowed to watch it in a bid to know what is so dazing about it.

“I promise I will watch it next time it is on and I am home. I didn’t know what Coronation Street was when I came here - actually I didn’t know what it was for the first two years,”

“People told me it’s a big thing here. I think Manchester United is the biggest thing in Manchester and then after that it is Coronation Street,” Ronaldo added.

Ronaldo gushed that watching the show would make him a complete Manchester citizen.

“If I do, maybe it will make me a real Manchester citizen. I will have to ask Wayne Rooney if he watches it, although I don’t think he will admit it because it is a show mainly for women, right?” Ronaldo said.

Source. The orginal source is the Sun but I refuse to link back there.

Also, I have never seen the show but this man LOOOOVES soap operas and elementarystars says it is a big deal so there you go. I found it amusing all the same.

Roy Keane offered the job as Ipswich manager

Ipswich have asked Roy Keane to become the club's new manager, just hours after they announced the sacking of Jim Magilton from the post.

The former Sunderland boss has been offered the job subject to certain conditions, which include him moving from his current base in Manchester to a home nearer the Ipswich area. But it is understood that the Irishman is enthused by the prospect of a managerial return, and that he could sign the contract within 24 hours.

Keane left his position as Sunderland manager in December, walking out on the Premier League club less than two years after leading them to promotion from the Championship.

Magilton, a former Ipswich player, was at the helm for just under three years, but had failed to make "the progress both he and I expected this season," according to the club's owner Marcus Evans. Evans's wealth — earlier this year he was listed 30th in FourFourTwo magazine's football rich list with an estimated worth of £200m — should mean a hefty budget for Keane next season, should he choose to take the role.
Magilton's dismissal came just a day after former British Olympic Association head Simon Clegg was installed as the new chief executive at Ipswich.

Earlier, Clegg outlined the characteristics he would be seeking in a replacement for Magilton:

"We want a winner," said Clegg. "Someone who is 100% professional and passionate who can take this club to where it aspires to be. We are not a club which hires and fires managers easily but it is important that we aspire to success at this club. We need to make sure that we have the right man in charge who can deliver that success.

"Hopefully they will have a track record of delivering that. We are very clear of the criteria for the sort of person we want to attract to this club."
