Arse Post

Campus Cesc

Cesc will be holding a week long football camp in his home town of Arenys de Mar from June 24 until July 1. 100 lucky kiddies will be able to attend!

On the information sheet on the official website children are told it is necessary to bring: pyjamas, a tracksuit and a kangaroo for daily use!?! lol

Cesc spoke with Sky at the launch (which seemed to have a dinosaur theme er... becos nothing says football camp like a big ugly dinosaur) about Hull and hopefully making his return next Saturday (woohoo)... here is de vid.

Nicky's buggered his knee :(
but he doesn't look too upset
so it may not be terminal

Nicky Bendtner started for Denmark in their 3-0 win over Malta but was subbed off after 30 minutes with a knee injury. He is now doubtful for Denmark's next match against Albania and may instead return to London depending on the results of his scan. Hopefully it turns out to be minor :) source

and now it's Rambo time...

Arrogant and Out of Control!

Francesc Fabregas Soler: 2007-2008

Cesc Fabregas has been branded arrogant and out of control - by his own Arsenal team-mates.

And while his behaviour has created shockwaves inside the Emirates Stadium, the situation is being monitored closely back in his Spanish homeland.

The signals have been picked up at Barcelona - where Fabregas began his career as a trainee.

Sources close to the Catalan giants are now convinced the midfielder has set his heart on rejoining the club he has supported since he was a toddler.

Reports in his native Barca claim that his recent spat with Hull officials after the Gunners' stormy 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final victory have further affected his state of mind. Barcelona are briefing the Spanish media that Fabregas believes there is a witch hunt against him as part of a campaign to drive him away from Arsenal.

Back in England, there is an entirely different notion. Within the confines of the Emirates, insiders have detected a marked change in Fabregas's attitude since he returned victorious from Spain's success in last summer's European Championships.

Whether the stuff written in this article is true or not, I think it's obvious that there has been a shift in Cesc's attitude since receiving the armband. Watching interviews, it seems like he has matured (for better, or for worse?) from the childish Kinder-Egg-loving-Cesc that made him the unofficial mascot of this community. I'm not surprised that an article like this has eventually come out -- even if it was from a shitty source...

Maybe this "arrogant attitude" is all because he met Jessica Simpson?

RIP the old Cescito

Schalke 04 want Slaven Bilic

Croatia manager Slaven Bilic is reportedly Schalke 04's top pick to lead the German Bundesliga side until the end of this season.

Schalke sacked coac Fred Rutten earlier this week after a series of disappointing results, and sportspaper Kicker mentions Bilic as main candidate to take on the Gelsenkirchen job.

Bilic, who speaks fluent German, would not have to leave the Croatian team as there won't be any international games until June, excluding Wednesday's qualifier with Andorra.

Schalke are currently in eighth position with just nine matches left to play.

Man City launching £35M bid for Bayern Munich ace Ribery

Manchester City are ready to go higher than the £32 million they paid for Robinho to land Bayern Munich ace Franck Ribery.

The Daily Star Sunday says City will make a £35m swoop for Ribery.

Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness admitted last night that his club face a "brutal fight" to keep the French midfielder.

City boss Mark Hughes has the backing of the Abu Dhabi United Group in his bid for Ribery, Footballer of the Year in France and Germany.

City hoped to land Ribery for between £20-25m but his value has soared as he is also wanted by Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus.

His agent claims that Ribery would also become a target for Manchester United if Cristiano Ronaldo decided to join Real Madrid.

Hoeness added: "Franck is on a contract without clauses for two more years and he enjoys it here."

"A lack of European trophies could turn his thoughts to a move but we will try with all our might to keep him. If we hold firm until the transfer window closes we could even try to sign him for longer than his current deal."

*Sigh* I'm getting so tired of this -_-

Denmark Admit Concern Over Extent Of Injury To Arsenal Star Bendtner

The latest prognosis on the young forward's injury isn't looking too good for either club or country...

The chief medic of the Danish national team has admitted that it is highly unlikely that Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner will be able to shake off his injury in time for their next World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old barely lasted half-an-hour of his country’s 3-0 victory over Malta on the weekend before limping off clutching his knee. He now stands to miss Denmark's next game against Albania, in which case he very probably will also be absent for Arsenal's next fixture against Manchester City on Saturday.

Denmark’s team doctor, Soren Kaalund, told Ekstra Bladet: "It is looking very much the case that we must send him home to England.

“Such an injury requires rest and rest, and it is not a good opportunity here.”

National team boss Morten Olsen was not quite as pessimistic, though his comments were hardly very encouraging either.

“We opted to switch him out to not aggravate the injury for Wednesday’s match against Albania," said Olsen.

“It is an unfortunate injury, but we do not know yet how it looks in terms of Wednesday. He has irritation and pain in the left knee.”

This is goal, but it was also reported on setanta too and he isn't in today's training pics so I think is probably legit. And I also know that it was already posted that this was a possibility but I think we can take this as a confirmation.

No Injury Concerns For Del Bosque As Spain Prepare For Turkey Trip

La Furia Roja will be able to work with a full-strength squad ahead of their second World Cup qualifier against the Turks…

After notching up their tenth consecutive win and stretching their unbeaten streak to 30 games, Spain returned to the training ground on Sunday to prepare for Wednesday’s reverse Worldcup qualifying clash against Turkey at the imposing Ali Sami Yen Stadi.

After the 1-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu last Saturday, all of  Vicente del bosque's troops took to the Las Rozas pitch and completed a smooth morning session without any problems. Those who started the game against Turkeydid light jogging and stretching before receiving massages from the physiotherapists, while the substitutes and non-participants trained with more intensity.

However, midfielder Sergio Busquets gave the team a scare when he injured his right leg during the workout. But after quick treatment, he was able to rejoin the group and continued training without any further troubles.

The handful of players who were carrying minor niggles and knocks, such as Xavi, Gerard Pique, David Villa and David Silva, did not show any signs of a recurrence. All four could make the starting line-up in midweek.

The squad spent the rest of the evening with their families, and Del Bosque will conduct another session on Monday before flying off to Istanbul.

Spain are currently top of Group 5 in the UEFA World Cup qualifying section, having won all five of their games so far. They are six points ahead of second-placed Bosnia and seven clear of the Turks, who have dropped to third.

Van Persie Blow for Dutch

Robin van Persie will play no part in Holland's World Cup qualifying match against Macedonia on Wednesday due to a groin injury.

The Arsenal striker has left the Netherlands training camp in news that will alarm his club manager Arsene Wenger.

Van Persie had looked to have been returning to form of late after missing much of the campaign with a succession of injuries.

He was on target for the Dutch in Saturday's comfortable 3-0 victory over Scotland, but has now been sidelined with a fresh problem.

Van Persie's place is likely to be taken by Wesley Sneijder, who was overlooked in his favoured attacking midfield role at the weekend as the Arsenal man was given the nod.

The Netherlands leads Group 9 with 12 points from four games.

Ever find a footballer so yummy that you just want to eat them?

You may know Carles Puyol as the first choice defender for both the Catalan giants and the Spanish NT... or just simply, 'that guy with the hair'. Indeed, this boy has a sweet head of curls plus and some extra sweet moves to suit (both on the pitch, and off the pitch, eh eh ) and now he has a figurine made of him entirely of sweets by a sweet shop in Barcelona!

Last year, Bruce Springsteen was the dolceria's pick as their annual figurine, and this year Puyol has received the honour of being represented in their confectionery goodness. It is set to make its debut next Thursday on April 2. Maybe it's a sign that the injured captain will make his return around that time?

Stevie gives Pepe some love

Steven Gerrard today hailed Pepe Reina as one of the finest goalkeepers in world football.
The Spaniard's clean sheet in the recent victory over Aston Villa was his 100th for the Reds and meant he became the quickest custodian in the club's history to reach the milestone.

It's a statistic that has impressed his Anfield captain, who also highlighted Reina's contribution to Liverpool's excellent recent run of form.

"We're really happy with the keeper that we've got at Liverpool and as far as I'm concerned Pepe is probably the best in the world in his position right now," said Gerrard.

"If you look at the games we've won of late, Pepe has played a really important part in those victories by making important saves at vital moments and he's even created a couple of goals as well.

"So we know just how good he is and he is definitely one of the world's best."

Meanwhile, Gerrard is tipping Reds youngster Jay Spearing to challenge for a first-team place at Anfield.

The 20-year-old made an impressive cameo appearance in the 4-0 demolition of Real Madrid earlier this month and Gerrard believes the Academy graduate has what it takes to make an impact on Rafa Benitez's senior setup.

"I was delighted for Jay because I think a few people will have been surprised by the way he performed after coming on against Real Madrid but I wasn't one of them," added the Liverpool skipper.

"First of all, you have to give credit to the manager for giving a young player a chance in such a big game and Jay certainly did not let him down.

"I see him in training all the time and he's got a good touch, he passes the ball well and he keeps thing simple and it was good to see him show what he is all about in a game like this.

"He certainly won't let anyone down if he is given more chances in the future."

Ugh I miss Liverpool matches :( Hurry up Saturday!

Fronk's press conference ahead of the Ukraine match

If you're crazy and don't want to sit through 10 holy minutes of this then you can be a Dull Dolores and read a brief of it here and here.

Fronk is not impressed with England's new leisure shirts...

Tugging at his sleeve, he added: “Even though we have these terrible tops on, at least we are all wearing the same.

"Have we got a better chance of winning the World Cup now? Possibly. We’re in a good position, we’re working hard but hopefully they’ll change these shirts!”
