Holland & Scotland WCQ Squads

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will return from an ankle injury to bolster the Netherlands' defence in two World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and Macedonia.

Van Marwijk said he is sticking with Maarten Stekelenburg as his first-choice goalkeeper even though Stekelenburg has been relegated to the bench at Ajax by Kenneth Vermeer.

"I have faith in him," Van Marwijk said. "I think Maarten has the most potential as a keeper. He is the best in front of the goal and has the most experience."

Van der Sar came out of retirement for two World Cup qualifiers last October as injury cover, taking his Dutch record international appearance tally to 130.

Van Marwijk said this week he tried unsuccessfully to lure the Manchester United player out of retirement again because of injury and form worries surrounding his current crop of goalkeepers.

Four Real Madrid players - Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Rafael van der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben - were included in the squad along with Liverpool forwards Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel.

Holland face Scotland on March 28 before meeting Macedonia four days later.

Goalkeepers: Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax), Henk Timmer (Feyenoord), Michel Vorm (Utrecht).

Defenders: Khalid Boulahrouz (Stuttgart), Edson Braafheid (FC Twente), Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Feyenoord), John Heitinga (Atletico Madrid), Dirk Marcellis (PSV Eindhoven), Joris Mathijsen (Hamburg), Andre Ooijer (Blackburn Rovers), Gregory van der Wiel (Ajax).

Midfielders: Ibrahim Afellay (PSV Eindhoven), Mark van Bommel (Bayern Munich), Nigel de Jong (Manchester City), Stijn Schaars (AZ Alkmaar), Wesley Sneijder (Real Madrid), Rafael van der Vaart (Real Madrid), Demy de Zeeuw (AZ Alkmaar).

Forwards: Ryan Babel (Liverpool), Klaas Jan Huntelaar (Real Madrid), Dirk Kuyt (Liverpool), Robin van Persie (Arsenal), Arjen Robben (Real Madrid).

More Rafa-ness

More to come from Reds - Benitez

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez believes there is more to come from his side after seeing them thrash Aston Villa.

The Reds won 5-0 to move within a point of Premier League leaders Manchester United, who have a game in hand.

"We were scoring goals but didn't play particularly well," said the Spaniard after the 5-0 win.

More New Perspective Kits Leaked

Arsenal and Liverpool seem to be keeping their current home kits and only changing their away kits.

Chelsea on the other hand seems to be changing both, but only the new home kit has a leaked design and well it's pretty fug. Is this some sort of warrior analogy with the weird looking body armor plates?

Villa to fight Friedel red card
Aston Villa will make an appeal against the red card shown to goalkeeper Brad Friedel during Sunday's 5-0 hammering at Liverpool.

The visitors were already down 4-0 when Friedel was dismissed by referee Martin Atkinson for bringing down Fernando Torres after 65 minutes.

However, the American argued he went for a 50-50 ball and had nowhere else to go after Torres got to it first.

The club expect to hear a decision from the Football Association on Tuesday.

The Special Doctor

Jose becomes a doctor

Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho was awarded an honorary doctorate Monday from Lisbon's Technical University, where he graduated in physical education and sport more than 20 years ago.

"I'm not sure I deserve this accolade,'' Mourinho said. "I'm surprised by it. I'm probably a source of pride for the faculty, but I've pursued my career without thinking about such things.''

Wearing a gray suit but no tie, the 46-year-old Mourinho was wrapped in a dark gown and a ribbon with a medallion was placed around his neck during a formal ceremony.

The university said the tribute was in recognition of his professional success.
