Ribéry sticks van Buyten in his travel suitcase...

Is Franck staying at Bayern after this season or will the 25 year old international seek his fortune elsewhere? For Daniel van Buyten this is also a very important question because he's become very dear to Ribéry.

Daniel van Buyten doesn't have to worry. If Ribéry leaves the Allianz Arena he's going to take the 31 year old Red Devil with him.
"We've made a pact, which I am not going to say anything else about...* Van Buyten tells L'Equipe. "Franck has guaranteed me that we're leaving together. If he leaves the club he's going to put me in his suitcase."

Big Dan doesn't think it's illogical that his friend considers leaving Bayern. "It wouldn't be very human to not listen to offers from teams like FC Barcelona and Man United. He should look at all options."

Nephew of Simao dies

Simão's nephew drowns in a Matosinhos beach

Simao Sabrosa, the Atletico Madrid player, has now arrived at the beach at Lavra, in Matosinhos, where the search continues to find the body of his four-year-old nephew Diogo.

The boy was playing on the beach yesterday with his father and other children, also related, when a wave crashed over them. Serafim, the child's father, managed to rescue the other children from the water. Diogo, his only child, was less lucky.

Since 8 in the morning today the firemen and maritime police (coastguard?) have been searching the sea, looking for the child. The body was found once already by search and rescue dogs, but the sea's high tide hindered the rescue. Diogo's family gathered together onsite and is receiving medical treatment.

A helicopter, a search and rescue team, various (boats?) and teams from the Matosinhos Fire Department are involved in the search, and a Marine patrol ship from the docks is also involved.

football - i'm not your babe fernando

More about baby Fernandaaaaa.

"According to this somewhat reliable Spanish source, Fernando Torres and Olalla Dominguez are having a baby girl. Fernando has also confirmed this via his Facebook page.

Olalla is due in July, so that still leaves enough time to submit your baby name suggestions. We’re requesting that they consider calling her “Nandette”. No? Okay, how about “Kickalla”? In any case, we’re going to hazard a guess that their bubba will be cuter than this. Maybe."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Keen On Barcelona Switch – Report

Barcelona would not need to do much to persuade Zlatan Ibrahimovic to join them in the summer, according to an Italian source.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is keen to taste success in the Champions League and believes that a move to the Primera Division, and Barcelona in particular, could bring him that, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Swedish international striker wants a fresh challenge and his agent, Mino Raiola, has made no secret of the fact that a move to Camp Nou would be tempting.

“Mino Raiola has a clear idea of what could happen and has maintained contact with Barcelona," the Italian paper states. "The first exchanges have been satisfactory.”

At no time has there been any contact with Inter about a possible switch but the fact that there is interest could mean that the Milan club will have to make the first move to see what the player's plans are.

"Nobody can think that they can tie Ibrahimovic to Inter," Raiola said recently. Such comments have led to speculation that, after another early exit from the Champions league, a move could be on the cards.

The sale of Samuel Eto'o would ease the way for the Swede to move to Camp Nou and, while the Cameroonian striker will not discuss a new deal, the Blaugrana are drawing up a list of possible replacements.

In case Barcelona are not interested - reports in Spain suggest that David Villa is at the head of their queue - the option of Real Madrid is also put forward.

"As an alternative, Ibrahimovic could team up with Carlo Ancelotti at Madrid, with Florentino Perez back as president," La Gazzetta dello Sport claims.

Fernando & Stevie - are they that obvious?

Quoting ESPN article.

You know how it goes; Stevie loves Fernando, Fernando loves Stevie, Stevie only wants to pass to 'Nando, 'Nando tries desperately to hang on to the ball just that little bit longer so he doesn't have to pass to Dirk Kuyt because he wants to pass it straight to Stevie.

They are just too obvious, aren't they?

So, what are Sergio and Xabi thinking? :-(

Andrea Dossena claims scoring against two of the biggest clubs in world football made his battle to adapt to the Premier League worthwhile.

The Italy international put the seal on victories over Real Madrid and Manchester United after coming off the bench.

"It made me very happy, of course," the left-back told "It has been a tough fight to get into this team but if you work hard every day and don't give up, even in bad times, you get these moments that make it worthwhile."

Dossena also shed light on why he initially found life hard in England.

"Compared to last season, I have changed my position - I have gone back 20 metres," he said.

"This change and adapting to English football gave me some difficulties to start with, but with the help of a great coach like Rafael Benítez, I'm starting to understand how to play in the team. You adapt step by step."

Julio Baptista: Roma Icon Totti? Not One Of The Best

The Brazilian made some comments which will not go down too well with the Giallorossi fans as he does not see Totti as one of the best players around.

Roma forward Julio Baptista has played with and against many important players during his career, but Francesco Totti does not feature in his top three.

Baptista opted to give the first spot to retired star Zinedine Zidane, whom he considers the best player he ever saw.

"Let's go in order: Zidane in first place, Ronaldo in second, but the bronze medal goes to Ronaldinho, because at Barcelona he was phenomenal," declared the former Real Madrid player to Guerin Sportivo.

"Maybe if I had played some years ago with Francesco [Totti], I would have placed him amongst the top three, but now he is at the end of his career.

On the other hand, there are other players who impressed him a lot at Roma.

"[Daniele] De Rossi, but also [Vincenzo] Montella is good," he explained. "He's the most Brazilian of the team, with a carioca dribbling.

"For the future, I would confide in [Alberto] Aquilani."

The 27-year-old player joined Roma last summer and in 21 league games has scored eight goals for the club.

official stuff.

Comment from Club captain Cesc Fabregas

In light of Phil Brown’s post-match comments Cesc Fabregas would like to say the following:

“I categorically deny that I spat at anybody after the match. I have never done this in my whole career on the pitch, so why would I do it when I am not even playing?

“I can understand the frustration of losing a game to a dubious goal, that has happened to me many times in my career as well. But this is not the fault of me or any of the Arsenal players.”

Big Drama from the Arsenal match guys.

Hull manager Phil Brown accused Cesc Fabregas of coming on to the pitch at the end of the match and spitting at his Assistant Manager. Apparently they are going to put a complaint in to the FA tomorrow about it. Arsenal were awarded a bit of a controversial winning goal, which obviously upset Brown where he proceeded to go on a massive rant about Wenger and Cesc Fabregas in the post match interview.

There are no 'proper' news articles just yet as it is so soon after the game. Just this from

"In watching Phil Brown's post-match interview with Setanta, I have to agree with him about the botched call, but he had some interesting comments about Arsenal as a club.  Brown claimed captain Cesc Fabregas spit at his assistant manager at the end of the match.

We all know Fabregas still embodies the callowness of youth, but it'd be a shame if there's any truth to the accusation.  More to come."

Personally I find it very hard to believe that Fabregas would do anything like that, especially when he wasn't even playing.

And here is the article from the source de journalistic integrity...
