Stevie tells UEFA to use common sense

Steven Gerrard today added his voice to appeals for Liverpool not to play on the 20th anniversary of Hillsborough.
The club has asked UEFA not to schedule its Champions League quarter-final second leg for Wednesday, April 15 - the date 20 years ago when 96 fans lost their lives.

The governing body has said it will do its best - but has yet to confirm whether Liverpool's wishes will be granted.

Gerrard said: "We hope that UEFA show some common sense. You would think they would accept the significance of the date for the people of Liverpool, but unfortunately feelings like that don't always come into it.

"We're still waiting to see whether UEFA will make us play on the day. That would be far from ideal given all the emotion that always surrounds the club on that day. It should be a time that Liverpool Football Club remembers the people who were lost and their families.

"Hillsborough is always on my mind because I lost a member of my family there and any success we get as a club this year will be dedicated to those people who lost their lives."

I can't believe UEFA are even delaying their decision on this, there is absolutely no way we can play on the anniversary. UEFA is an absolute shambles and the dates should've been changed as soon as the posibilty of us playing on the 15th came up.

Deco blow for Hiddink

A solitary strike from Michael Essien was enough to keep the Blues in the title race as they reclaimed second spot in the Premier League standings.

However, the victory was soured by an injury to Portuguese playmaker Deco.

He was forced from the field four minutes before half-time after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring problem and could be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Ballack promised German captaincy

Michael Ballack has been promised the captaincy of the German national team at the 2010 World Cup - if he is fit and the three-times winners qualify.

Last year the 32-year-old Chelsea midfielder had a very public falling out with Germany coach Joachim Low.

Ballack had suggested Low should show senior players more respect and loyalty, but subsequently apologised.

"If Ballack is fit he will be there as captain in 2010," Low told Bild newspaper on Sunday.

"Of course it was a very strong conflict with Michael," added Low. "But we live in football, not in some holy world. You will always have conflicts.

"We all made mistakes last year. All of us."

Moyes and Jagielka scoop awards

Everton's David Moyes and Phil Jagielka have won the Barclays Premier League Manager and Player of the Month awards.

Boss Moyes guided the Toffees to league wins at home to Bolton and West Brom and a draw at Newcastle in February.

Defender Jagielka helped Everton keep clean sheets in all three fixtures, and made his first England start in the 2-0 friendly defeat in Spain last month.

From the Bleacher Report, here.

10. Sergio "Kun" Aguero (Argentina) - Atletico de Madrid

The young 20-year-old Argentine striker has a tremendous close control which makes a difficult task for defenders to take the ball from him. Apart from his clinical finishing, he has decent skills in his repertoire.

Jose Mourinho Plans €100m Premier League Player Revolution At Inter

A report in the Italian media suggests that Jose Mourinho could be handed a giant transfer kitty in the summer in order to set Inter up for a Champions League charge.

Jose Mourinho is planning a mega €100 million revolution at Inter after the club failed again in their hunt for European glory this season.

The Nerazzurri crashed out of the Champions League on Wednesday, leaving a number of unanswered questions at Appiano Gentile. Tuttosport claims Mourinho will attempt to revolutionise the club - like he did at Chelsea - with a €100m transfer kitty from president Massimo Moratti.

‘The Special One' has said that he wants to continue working at Inter, but that he wants to do it his way. Reports suggest the coach will focus on bringing in several Premier League-based stars in order to prepare his side for next season's Champions League run.

Manchester United stopper Nemanja Vidic, Arsenal's Abou Diaby, Tottenham's Jermaine Jenas and Chelsea duo John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba are all on Mourinho's transfer list, according to the report.

In order to get his hands on the pack of Premier League aces, it is reported that the Portuguese will need at least €100m at his disposal.

Although it seems like a great deal of money, the club is planning to offload some deadwood in order to lessen the financial burden on Moratti's shoulders.

David Suazo, Ricardo Quaresma, Amantino Mancini, Marco Materazzi, Patrick Vieira, Luis Figo, Hernan Crespo and Julio Cruz could all face the exit door.

Not a Liverpool/Stevie/Fernanda Post

At the tender age of 6, Bojan Krkic is already scoring goals for one of the biggest football clubs in the world. Today he was given a rare start from Pep Guardiola, and impressed by netting his first two league goals of the season! These goals led Barca to their 2-0 victory against Almeria and restored their 6 point lead at the top of the La Liga table. Then he went home to practice his ABCs.

Probably one of the best team goals that have been scored by Barcelona this season. The ball was exchanged about 4 times in the penalty area before it landed at feet of bb Krkic. Also featured in the video is Ray Hudson ejaculating.

Two goals in 5 minutes. Not bad for someone who is still in the womb!
... or was this striking prodigy developed in a test tube?

Anyways, I had a pretty satisfying footi week, and I hope the same goes for all of you!
