last call for the "most attractive champions league team" voting!

The Champions League Player Rating is approaching its final hours! If you haven't voted yet, you have a little less than 24 hours left to make your opinion count!

15 people have voted so far, seven of which have rated all teams, and the results are quite fascinating! Thanks to everyone who voted! I'm hoping to get some more votes until the deadline tomorrow night to make the result even more diversified!

In case you're amongst the eight people who missed a couple of posts and want to rate the remaining teams as well, let me know and I'll send you a PM.

The more votes, the better the results! :D

Stevie wants his boyfriend back bitches

Steven Gerrard is hoping his formidable front line partnership with Fernando Torres can be reunited in time to fire the Reds to glory at the end of the season.
Gerrard has now resumed action after recovering from a hamstring tear while Torres is hoping to be back in the starting line-up for next Tuesday's Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

The Liverpool skipper admits the constant injury problems which have affected himself and Torres over the course of the season have been a major source of frustration - but with so much still to play for this term he is hoping the pair can soon begin terrorising opposition defences once again.

"It's been frustrating because I certainly love playing with him and from reading some of the things he's said, he loves playing with me," said the skipper.

"Ideally we want to end the season playing together and performing for the team.

"I spoke to him a couple of days ago and he seems very optimistic so fingers crossed he can pull through for Tuesday because you know how much I like playing against Everton, and I'm sure it's the same for him playing against Madrid."

Despite a seven point gap to Manchester United at the top of the table, Gerrard is refusing to write off the Reds' title chances and was pleased the players bounced back to winning ways in midweek against Sunderland.

"It was a comfortable win and it lifted everybody," he added. "We've struggled at home this season but in midweek we were patient and got our rewards. It was important to bounce back with a win and a good performance.

"The following night it was frustrating watching Newcastle play United because there were times when I thought United could drop points. Newcastle went in front and then I was off the couch when they almost scored a second.

"United seem to be playing well and getting the results but if teams believe they can take points off them then I am sure it will happen sooner or later. It's important for us not to let the gap get any bigger and if they make mistakes we have to be ready to pounce. Of course, we all know how big our game at Old Trafford is going to be.

"Our season is still very much alive. We're not giving up in the title race and we're 1-0 up in the Champions League and one win away from a place in the last eight.

"It's important people stay positive and upbeat and not be down or worried about things."

Omg give me the Real Madrid game now please, no weekend football makes me sad :(

Sergio Ramos - the bullfighter

“If we end up winning La Liga, I will go to Las Ventas [bullring] and participate in a bull-fight,” he challenged. “And if we win La Liga and the Champions League, I will lock myself in the ring with six bulls.”

I'm a RM supporter anyway, but now they simply HAVE to finish first.

adding to barcelona's defensive problems

Barcelona Lose Puyol For Three Weeks

The Blaugrana have suffered a cruel blow at a crucial stage of the season, with the news that Carles Puyol will miss the game against Lyon, among others...

Barcelona have suffered a blow ahead of their Champions League date with Lyon, with the news that captain Carles Puyol will be out for approximately three weeks.

The Barca talisman suffered a sprained left ankle in the dying minutes against Athletic Bilbao after colliding with Igor Gabilondo, and was promptly replaced by Victor Sanchez.

Puyol's frustration at the injury will be heightened by the fact that it occurred in the 90th minute of a match that was virtually won, with the scoreline at 2-0.

Coach Pep Guardiola, then, will be more than annoyed himself, given that he now must conduct a defensive reshuffle.

Gerard Pique and Rafael Marquez are expected to form the central defensive pairing in midweek. With Eric Abidal still out, Sylvinho is the only realistic candidate to play on the left now that Puyol is unavailable, while Dani Alves should line up on the right.

I'm assuming he'll miss out on another international appearance this month against Turkey

Vidic expecting a second child

Nemanja Vidic, the Manchester United football player, will soon become father for the second time. The Serbian national team player and his wife Ana already have son Luka, born in December 2006.

In a New Year interview for “Blic”, Vidic discovered some interesting details, although he generally doesn’t like to talk much about his private life.

“I don’t have much free time, and when I have, I try to spend it with my family as much as I can. We usually walk to some nice restaurant. I love Italian food, but sometimes Ana, Luka and I go to a Chinese restaurant as well.”
