Heather Mitts is hotter than your WAG

Heather Mitts is the a rightback for the USA Women's National Soccer Team. She was named sexiest female athlete a few years back by ESPN. She is also a spokesperson for those bastards known as Under Armour who just launched a new campaign. They will now be selling running shoes and soon soccer cleats/football boots. Next year she will play for the Boston Breakers in the new Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) league. Anyway this Heather, I have a huge crush on her.

AND rafa said that they're trying to convince the tennis channel here in the states to show the malaria event. i'm a tennis dork so i have the tennis channel, and so naturally i am ridiculously stoked on this idea. if you have the tennis channel and want to see it, you should email them and say so. anyway. that's my contribution for the day: twenty seconds of iker. haha.

man city buying the world

Buffon seeks £250k-a-week for Man City move

Manchester City will have to pay Gianluigi Buffon wages of £250,000-a-week to prise the world's best goalkeeper away from Juventus.

The Daily Mail claim that City would also have to pay a transfer fee of £20 million for the 30-year-old Italian international.

The super-expensive transfer is thought to be a 'statement signing' by the club's new billionaire owners, the Abu Dhabi royal family, who shocked football by signing Robinho during the summer transfer window.

City manager Mark Hughes is believed to have endorsed the transfer - on condition Buffon proves his fitness after missing a month of Serie A action with a groin injury - and would welcome the World Cup winner into his squad.

However, last month Buffon, who currently earns £90,000-a-week at the Stadio Olimpico, dismissed City as a fantasy football club.

"Manchester City? I played fantasy football when I was young, now I only like to think about real football," he told firenzeviola.it.

Villa not going to Man City (yet)

Clearing up the latest rumours, Guillem said: "It's false that David Villa's agent has met Manchester City; it's false that there is an agreement with the club and a figure for the transfer; it's false that there is an agreement in terms of wages.

"What is true is that Manchester City is interested in David Villa and there will be conversations, of course. And it's true that the bad situation of Valencia may mean that they will be forced to sell.

"But from there to David Villa actually going to City is a long way, because to start with Villa - if he could choose - would not go to England, and if he did he would problably go for a bigger club.

"I think he's just waiting for the opportunity to maybe go to Barcelona or Real Madrid, but what's very clear is that Valencia could do with 70-80m euros, because they have 600m euros in debt."

Wayne Rooney faces possible 5 match ban over Aalborg 'stamping'

Wayne Rooney is facing a possible FIVE-game Champions League ban for his stamp on Aalborg’s Kasper Risgard.

UEFA chiefs have promised trial by TV after French referee Laurent Duhamel missed the first-half incident at Old Trafford on Wednesday and did not mention it in his match report. Video evidence will now be used to open an investigation into the clash.

That leaves the Manchester United striker staring at the prospect of a suspension that could rule him out of the holders’ defence of the trophy until the second leg of the semi-final in May.Collapse )

Iker and Camp Nou

It's basically saying that Iker will most likely play on Saturday and that he was benched in Champ league to rest.

Rubén de la Red news

I just opened my hotmail inbox and got hit in the face with this:

Anyone who is in Spain can find said La Sexta interview?

Because I forgot to do this earlier today...

... sorry to those who keep seeing this entry multiple times. Though I do think that you just can't ogle this guy often enough.

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas on his footballing life

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas explains why his passion for football doesn't include WAGS

Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal football player

Harriet Addison

Congratulations on becoming the captain of Arsenal. Are you enjoying bossing the others?

No, I don't boss anybody! In England, captain is a very big thing. Everybody looks at him to be always at the top, so it's a huge responsibility.

You came to England from Spain when you were just 16. Was it hard?

It was difficult for the first five months or so, but I was training with the first team every now and then, which made it all worth it.

               Do you get homesick?

I miss my family, but I'm quite independent. I moved out of home at 15, moved to England at 16. It's difficult when I go back home to Barcelona because I'm being told what to do.

How do you stay in shape?

Food is really important. I'd like to see a nutritionist actually. I have always been very disciplined and if I am told to do something, I will do it. But if nobody tells me, I'm suddenly at the fridge, eating chocolate. And I need to sleep a lot. If I don't sleep for ten hours, I think I haven't had enough sleep, so I feel tired, even if I'm probably not.

Ever tried therapy?

My girlfriend is a psychologist, so that's all I need! We have one at Arsenal who comes to talk to us, which is good. I have to be careful with my girlfriend; it can be dangerous.

So, she's not a typical WAG?

No. She's quiet, relaxed and intelligent. For me, that's the most important thing.

If you weren't a footballer, what would you do with your life?

I would be in Barcelona, studying, like my friends, then working. I would probably be partying a bit more if my life was like that!

Was British culture a bit of a shock?

Yes. In Spain, normally you eat at 10pm, at 12.30am you go to a pub, at 3am you go to the disco. Here, at 7pm they are either ready for bed or on the floor somewhere.

So are you much of a party animal?

No, I don't like that scene. I don't like alcohol.

How do you like to relax?

It's difficult to relax because I spend my time thinking about football. Sometimes I can relax when I'm out with my girlfriend or friends, or when I play golf, even though I'm not very good.

Who's the lucky lady?

She's Spanish. I met her three weeks after I arrived in England. We celebrated our five-year anniversary three weeks ago.

Pretty good week for you, then!

Yes! The day of our anniversary was the day that my boss told me I would be captain.

Did you always want to be a footballer?

My parents knew that I loved football, but we would never have thought for a minute that I would become a professional player. I started playing in a five-a-side team when I was 5. My career developed and at 10 I went to play for Barcelona.

That sounds hard at such a young age

It was. I would start school at 8am, then go running after school, then straight to training all evening. I would get home at about 11.30pm, eat quickly, do my homework and some study, and then wake at 7am the next day and do it all again.

Feel like you missed out on your childhood?

Yes, definitely. I missed many, many things, but it's worth it. I have no regrets.

Bit of a perfectionist?

Yes. I sometimes feel as if I don't have a life at all because when I am not playing football, I am watching football, re-watching the games to see what I did wrong.
