I Think Someone is Bitter

Becks Brings Too Much Baggage - Lalas

Ahead of his short-term loan move to Serie A with AC Milan, David Beckham's leadership credentials have been questioned by former LA Galaxy supremo, Alexi Lalas...

Lalas launched an attack on the England midfielder as he accused him of failing to possess the requisite heart to lead the MLS side.

The former United States international stated that there are too many distractions around Beckham, and as such, his commitment and leadership qualities were not what they should be.

Lalas urged Galaxy manager Bruce Arena to reconsider Beckham's position as team captain for next season's MLS campaign and to hand the armband to a player whose sole interest lies on the field.

He accused Galaxy of having a leadership vacuum on the pitch, which was sustained by Beckham's many off-field pursuits.

Lalas slammed the 33-year-old for believing himself to be bigger than the club he represents, in light of the negotiations with AC Milan, of which Arena did not approve.

He told the press: "I think Arena's first order of business is to find some leadership, to fill a void that exists.

"He needs to go out and find some guys that don't care about saying the truth, don't care about hurting people's feelings and aren't afraid that they're going to lose their job for doing so.

"I think that he needs to make one of those guys the Galaxy captain. You need to send out a message that nobody is bigger than the club, whether you're David Beckham or an 18-year-old coming into the club. Everybody has to understand that the team comes first.

"When you talk about David Beckham, it's about so much more than what he is on the field, for better or worse."

One player isn't going to save a shit team. If you want to get better Galaxy buy a new goalie, yours is horrendous. I also think Lalas is bitter because his ass got fired after he was supposedly bringing in the saving grace of the MLS.

And yes I am sneaking in a pic of JT in a story about Becks, its the only pic I have of Becks in his Galaxy kit.
