Spurs Set For Güiza Capture

New Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has identified on Spanish hotshot Daniel Guiza as a main transfer target, and is reportedly ready to make a £9 million bid for the striker in January.

The Spanish striker was last season's Primera Liga top scorer, with his 27 league goals for former club Real Mallorca helping them finish a very respectable seventh in last season's La Liga.

He moved during the summer to Fenerbahce to join up with former Spain coach Luis Aragones, but has since failed to settle in at the Turkish club, and may now be tempted by the new revolution at Spurs since Redknapp's arrival.

Spurs are currently attempting to re-build their strikeforce after losing Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane during the summer and Guiza seems to be on Redknapp's shopping list.

Redknapp is also reportedly watching Ligue 1 pair Fernando Cavenaghi of Bordeaux as well as Rennes' Jimmy Briand, and these could well make the step up to the Premier League.

Guiza, who scored for Fenerbahce in their recent Champions League group game against Arsenal, would go a long way in making up for the loss of Berbatov and Keane, with his skill and natural eye for goal seeing him impress for Real Mallorca last season and be a part of Spain's Euro 2008-winning campaign.

Redknapp could be set for a £9m bid for the 27-year-old striker in January, but has been told already by club chairman Daniel Levy that his funds will be limited due to the credit crunch.
