10 Reasons Why Madrid Will Win Nothing

Let's just start by saying that Real Madrid are still the team to beat in La Liga this season.

They were Champions in 2006/07 as Beckham said bon voyage and they held their nerve on the last game of Capello’s tenure.

They were Champions last season convincingly as Barcelona toiled towards the end of the Rijkaard era.

They have set the benchmark; it is up to the rest to dethrone Los Merengues.

But things just don’t appear to be running smoothly at the Bernabeu currently. The well-oiled cogs that aided the romp to the title in 2007/08 have shown signs of losing motion. The derby victory over Atletico and the heavy 7-1 victory over Sporting Gijon merely paper over the cracks that the defeat to Juventus, draw at home to Espanyol and loss at the Riazor threatened to expose. Real Madrid will be trophy-less at the end of the 2008/09 campaign, and these are the reasons why.

Xabi |Eso es una barba|

titiririririririrr

Basically, he will not play until whatever caused the drop in blood pressure is completely clear and sorted.

As much as it pains me to read that, I'm glad that this is being handled as delicately as it deserves.

Also, completely unrelated but Barcelona
is absolutely beautiful to watch right now, and this comes from a fervent Real Madrid supporter.

NOVEMBER YOU'RE LETTING ME DOWN

IT'S GOAL.COM AND I DON'T BELIEVE IT BUT I'M IN A BITCH MOOD RIGHT NOW ANYWAY SO I'M SHARING IN MY MISERY:

Metzelder, Drenthe & Javi Garcia On The Way Out

In the aftermath of Real Madrid's embarrassing 3-2 defeat at Real Union in the Copa del Rey, three players are set to be flung onto the transfer list in January...

The early rounds of the Copa del Rey traditionally provide an opportunity for the fringe players at clubs such as Real Madrid to stake their claim for more playing time. Several Real Madrid players were given this opportunity in midweek, but they look to have done themselves more harm than good.

Manager Bernd Schuster was especially perturbed by the poor defensive performance on display, and is said to have lost patience with a number of his squad players. According to Sport, Christoph Metzelder, Royston Drenthe and Javi Garcia will all be offloaded in January. Their poor performance in the first leg will ensure that they do not get another chance in the return to prove themselves.

Javier Saviola will probably join them in the transfer window, although this will not come as a surprise to anyone. Despite scoring in the defeat, Schuster has no confidence in him and is eager to see him leave.

The final player in danger is stalwart Michel Salgado, although his case is somewhat helped by the Sergio Ramos situation, with Salgado being the obvious replacement.

Clearly, Schuster does not have much faith in many of his substitutes, and he has instructed Predrag Mijatovic to look for a centre-back and forward who will be content to initially accept the role of bench players. Given the general lack of quality players usually available in January, this will be no easy task.
