Schuster To Punish Ramos With Bench Role

Bernd Schuster is set to leave Sergio Ramos out of the Real Madrid side to face Athletic Bilbao, but has insisted that he has not been influenced by the defender's outburst in the media.

The German coach is reported to be unhappy by the player's statements, but refuted that when grilled by the press ahead of the visit of Los Leones to the Bernabéu.

Ramos bemoaned that he had no help on the right and called for a change of system or the inclusion of better players to play on the right side of the Madrid team.

"I have not read it so I have no opinion," Schuster stated, attempting to ward off any further questions, but the press continued.

"I do not think that my Spanish had worsened in the past few days. I have said before that I have not read it and therefore cannot respond. I think that it clear enough, no?" the coach insisted.

When told what Ramos had said, Schuster was left with no choice but to state that he was not going to reveal his feelings and would deal with the matter internally.

"It goes on and on. It seems that you feel like talking a lot today. It goes on, I am listening, but I can tell you nothing," he stated. "You will have to ask him."

According to reports across the board on Sunday however, Schuster is ready to leave Ramos out and start with Michel Salgado at right-back against Athletic.

Manchester United fans can breathe a little easier after Cristiano Ronaldo admitted he sees himself staying at Old Trafford next season.

The 23-year-old was at the centre of this summer's longest-running transfer saga as Spanish giants Real Madrid sought to prise the Portugal superstar away from United.

Ronaldo revealed at the time that he was keen to play for Madrid, but ultimately announced he was going to stay with United for ''another year at least''.

The likelihood of the former Sporting Lisbon player leaving Old Trafford in the next 12 months appears to have become a little more remote following comments Ronaldo made in an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca.

When asked where he was going to play next season, Ronaldo said: ''Only God knows the future. I insist that I am a Manchester United player and now I think that next year I will continue here.''

Ronaldo admitted United manager Sir Alex Ferguson played a huge part in his decision to commit his immediate future to the Red Devils following this summer's transfer speculation.

''He has been a key person. I respect him a lot, because it was him who signed me and he has played a very important part in all that I have won,'' said Ronaldo, who met with Ferguson in July in Portugal to discuss his future.

''In Lisbon I reached an agreement with him and it was decided that the best thing for all was to continue.

''He listened to my arguments and I listened to his. Now I understand that it was the correct decision. I am with Manchester United body and soul.''

[not quite new comm announcement.]

I've managed to snatch a bastion of footie fandom from the jaws of death!

The mods of le_grand_otp announced today that they were closing the comm at the end of the month due to RL busyness and lack of member participation. I messaged them this afternoon, and as of 10 minutes ago, I was made MAINTAINER. And five minutes ago, I added sarkastic, the Torsten to my Micha, as my cohort in crime.

*cue ev0l laugh*

So, yeah. Announcement made. The comm will get a fresh coat of paint in the next few days, but I do welcome anyone who enjoys Micha and Torsten as much as I and Peggy do to friend the comm, if only to jumpstart it and give that little bit a fandom some LIFE.

*blows kisses*
