Agger bb ready tp take his chance

The Denmark international has started just two games this season, but despite his eagerness to play, he was gutted to see his close friend and roommate stretchered off against Man City.
Now, as the Reds wait on today's scan to hear how long Skrtel will be out, Agger is looking to leave sentiment behind and grab any chances that come his way.
"Of course I hope to get some playing time, but this was not exactly the way I wished to get it. I know Martin very well because I share a room with him when we travel," said Agger.
"I hope to get my chance and then I will prove that it's my place. On the other hand, it might as well be Jamie Carragher's place because I don't know why people only say it is me or Skrtel who are fighting each other for a place in the team."
Rafa Benitez last week responded to speculation about Agger's future by insisting the defender was not for sale.
The man himself is equally as determined to stay put.
"I have had to be patient this season and wait for my chance, I know how things are," said Agger.
"The team have been playing really well and the results have been great, so I couldn't really expect the manager to make too many changes.
"The only thing for me to do was get my head down and concentrate on getting as fit as possible, so that if an opportunity came along, I was ready to take it."
Agger missed almost all of last season with a metatarsal injury and has been squeezing in extra training sessions to get back in prime condition.
"When you have been out injured for 10 months, you know you are going to have to work really hard to get back into shape," said the 23-year-old. "That's why I have been putting extra sessions in at Melwood this season.
"I have been out there on the training pitch when the other lads have finished, because you never know when the call might come.

"It has been worth the extra effort, too, because I feel really fit and strong and ready to step in.
"There have been a few stories about me recently, but I couldn't be happier. I'm really glad to be a Liverpool player, and all I want is to play a part in a great start."

And now I'm off to school.

p.s. mods, I'd love a "Squirtle" tag. ;]

Cazorla Withdraws from Training ETA: CAPEL LEAVES

An Update from the same website::

pretty much, Capel has left and Del Bosque has called up Albert Riera in his place

So I read this article on Marca.com, which is in spanish. I'm posting the Spanish of it, because the translation I read sucks. I tried to translate the main points, since I couldn't do the whole thing, but any Spanish speakers can correct me.

~Santi Withdrew from training after colliding with Pepe; he has a bruise, but they don't know the extent of his injury as of yet
~Puyol is not training with the team because of an infection between his fourth and fifth toe on the left foot
~Iniesta is not training because of something wrong with his knee
~Diego Capel is not training because of an injury to his abductor muscle
~Raul Albiol is training (by himself) and might join the rest of the team tomorrow (thanks to soarne  for this, who also posted a video in the replies)

Skrtel back by Christmas

The centre-back, who suffered posterior cruciate ligament damage in the latter stages of our 3-2 victory at Eastlands on Sunday, had a scan on Tuesday afternoon.
Club spokesman Ian Cotton said: "Martin was examined by a specialist today, who confirmed the player does not require surgery and is expected to be back playing by Christmas."
Earlier in the day, boss Rafa Benitez admitted the loss of Skrtel was a blow, but claimed the presence of Sami Hyypia and Daniel Agger provided a silver lining.
"Everyone can see that the understanding between Martin and Carra is becoming really good," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv. "To lose a player who is doing well is always a problem. It's bad news, but we have other options.
"Martin has learned a lot. He already had good qualities and potential when we decided to bring him here. We had a lot of confidence in him but you can always improve, especially playing alongside experienced players and working under the staff here. He has done that.
"He has given me a selection headache this season but that is a good problem for me as a manager."

Aw, Squirtle, have some Hyper Potion.
